1 October 2018 NEXT MEETING Sunday, 21 October 2018 Plan to arrive in Surat between 9.30 am and 10 am for morning tea. (Please bring a plate of morning tea to share and a chair). Club will supply tea and coffee. Meeting will commence at 10.30am. Please stay and have lunch at the park with us before you travel home. BYO Picnic or buy from cafes in town. Coming Events (Please see RHMC Website for further information) Club Events 20 October (Saturday): Display at Yuleba Spring Fair. Arrive by 8.45 am to be in place before the start of the Fair at 9 am. Display will finish at 1 pm. 21 October (Sunday): RHMC Monthly Meeting. See details above. 11 November (Sunday): Display at Muckadilla Remembrance Day and Harry Murray VC Wall Dedication. Vehicles are to arrive between 9.30 am and 10 am so that they can be in place before the commencement of the official proceedings. Some vehicles may be required to carry some infirm people in a procession from the Muckadilla Hotel to the War Memorial. If you are going to stay for lunch, please RSVP to David nedwob12@bigpond.com. 11 November (Sunday): Display at St George for Remembrance Day years. Chapter Runs (Please contact the club or your chapter coordinator for the time for the club runs in your area.) 20 October (Saturday): Wallumbilla/Yuleba 21 October (Sunday): St George RHMC Monthly meeting in Surat. 28 October (Sunday): Injune Restoration Run 03 November (Saturday): All Chapters 04 November (Sunday): Blackall and Charleville Other Events 13 October: Observation Run which has been set by our club members, Gerald and Marlene Rennick to raise funds for Jayden Brock's trip to Cambodia later this year. Jayden is raising funds for Turn on the Tap. The entire course is 136 km long and mostly on dirt Council roads which are in good condition, so please bring a suitable vehicle. Entry Fee: $10 per adult - All funds raised will go to Turn on the Tap. Please arrive by 1.45pm - vehicles will begin departing at 2 pm. 20 & 21 October: Roma Rednecks Ute Club - Roma Pet Rescue Charity Ute Show at Roma Speedway. Free entry to a great family fun day. All money raised goes to Roma Pet Rescue. First class $10, additional classes $5. Nominations close at 12 noon. Judging at 12.30pm. Presentations at 3pm. 21 October: Tour de Cassowary - Far North Queensland Restorers Club Inc - Innisfail and Mission Beach. 27 & 28 October: T.A.D.O.M.S - Old Machinery Expo - Oakey Show Grounds. Report by Dan Ey The decision was made about two months out to head to the Red Centre Nats. For me this was a big call to make as it was the country we has to cover was the concerning factor.

2 Report by Dan Ey The decision was made about two months out to head to the Red Centre Nats. For me this was a big call to make as it was the country we has to cover was the concerning factor. I was not taking this trip on by myself, another local by the name of Paul Fleming would take the journey on with me. There was only one condition and that was we went in my HQ Statesman. Paul was all for it!! Paul looked after the accommodation and tickets and I looked after getting the HQ ready for 5000 km trouble free run. A few maintenance tasks were completed - new starter motor, carby work, oil and filters, coolant flush, radiator hoses, front crank seal, gearbox oil, spark plugs, stripped out interior and fitted Car Builders sound and heat deader on the floor and a new cigarette lighter to charge our phones. There was also a little work done on the A/C - thanks Ken. Overall the event was a high class turn out with lots to see and the fact that it was in Alice Springs made it even more attractive to attend. The trip home proved to be uneventful. We camped at Barkley Homestead and next night at McKinley home of Crocodile Dundee pub. Last night was in Tambo. We did have a couple little issues with the HQ but nothing we needed a tilt tray for. It's a trip I hope to do again next year with a few other likeminded people ie drive your classic car - half the adventure was getting there and back. The day came and we headed west, first night was in Barcaldine where we camped at a van park and down the street for pizza. The next night was Mt Isa and the third was in Tenant Creek, all were good camp sites. The forth day we rolled into Alice springs having had a pretty much trouble free run, only a broken front swaybar control link and a rear exhaust tail pipe bracket. With A/C on and sitting on around 105 kmh the 308 V8 returned l/100km. Now why would you drive anything else!! We lost count on the comments, thumbs up and waves we got on the way. It was so good to just enjoy driving my car all 2500 km to Alice. The Nats started on Friday with all the nominations at Lasseters centre of entertainment, this was pretty cool to just sit and watch. We then went out to the drag strip to watch burn out qualifying, this was pretty cool as I had never seen this event at that level, some boys are not scared to have a go!! The next day we went to the show grounds where all the show cars had gathered. There were over 720 entrants this year so that gave us a LOT to see and there were some outstanding vehicles to see and admire. After lunch we went back to the drag strip for some street car action. The standout was a stock looking HZ sedan with a twin turbo LS 1 all under the bonnet that ran a 9 second pass. That afternoon we watched the street parade from down town. That night we got to see the Veronica's live which was really cool since I haven't been to a concert since forever! Sunday was much of the same but it all got more serious with burnouts, drags and show and shine all been finalized and winners been chosen. The overall winner was a grey highly modified FJ Ute.

A big crowd. - Wallumbilla/Yuleba, Ken & Karen went to the Yuleba Cobb & Co day along with Greg and Lynette Seawright and David Bowden. - Brent Johnson read the Charleville report, getting good attendance at the runs and attracting extra interest. - Lynn Bowden read the Charleville 150+ years report, a successful event with a good roll up. - Greg Shaw read Mac Millar s report on the Father s Day run, he managed to pick up a trophy. - David Bowden spoke on the Gympie Swap and display that he attended, there were a lot of cars. There was a 17 year old with a Subaru Brumby that he was very proud of. Good to see the young ones getting into the movement and enjoying it. - Ken Dawes spoke of the Vintage Only rally that he and Karen attended at Chinchilla recently. Visited the Bartley fish farm at Chinchilla. It was very interesting. Sunday saw us learning about the Prickly Pear and its eradication, and then off to the Chinchilla museum to finish off the week end with lunchtime BBQ. - John Finnigan told us about the Anglican Bazaar, with 12 old vehicles with 3 being bikes. - Luke Huntly attended the Biloela Queensland Heritage Rally and drove one of the tractors in the parade. Was a good week end. MONTHLY RUN:.Next run will be to Penrose on the Carnarvon Highway (Surat Road) about 20 KM from the turnoff. Meet at the Big Rig at 11:45. BYO BBQ lunch followed by a viewing of lanterns To Light bulbs
