3 --President s Message Greetings, I hope everyone had a great summer. The temperatures are declining in Havasu, while the work at the new shop is reaching a fever pitch. Many people have donated their time and labor to make our new home a reality. On September first We gained access to the room which will contain our lapidary shop and meeting room. We are well on our way to building out the work area and storage space. The retail space is in the home stretch with a blend of floor to ceiling murals of crystals, living fossils, and prehistoric times; contrasting with modern glass display cases, corrugated steel and wood. I hope you will like what we have done. We are working hard to meet our deadline of opening on October first. Thanks to everyone who have come together to make this happen. The Gem & Mineral Show is coming up fast. There is still space available, see the notification in this newsletter. I hope to see you at our September 9th meeting at 6:30pm. WHAT DID YOU DO ON VACATION THIS YEAR? Did you combine your vacation with rockhounding? Of course you did! Do you want to show off your new rocks & minerals? Of course you do! We are asking our snowbirds and traveling members to bring some of their "other" local treasures to a club meeting this year. Show off your rocks! Tell us where you found them and the adventures surrounding the hunt. 3
4 Lapidary Club Founders! (That's you, readers) Celebrate the opening of our Lapidary club by becoming a recognized Founder with your name on the plaque. The plaque will be proudly and prominently displayed where the public can see it in the shop. As we move forward with our own facility, we are asking for tax-free Cash donations from our members. There are three levels of giving per Name: $500 Angel $250 Patron $ 50 Founder Your name will be added alphabetically to the list on the Founder's plaque. The Commemoration will be performed at the Open House in October. Please print, circle the level of donation, and send in the form below, along with your check made out to Lake Havasu Mineral & Lapidary Group.
