1 ICOM GLASS MEETING 2013 BRATISLAVA LEDNICKÉ ROVNÉ, SLOVAKIA OCTOBER 28-31, 2013 Preliminary program Before Congress Tour (By plane, train or bus to Vienna or Bratislava) October, weekend VIENNA. Our colleague, Peter Rath of Light & Glass Society, has organized a wonderful program of visits in Vienna (just 1 hour away from Bratislava), for the ICOM Glass participants who arrive to Vienna on Friday 25th to see the work being done in the workshop of Lobmeyr till 1 pm., or if they arrive later or on the weekend to have on Saturday a tour to the main store in Kärntnerstraße 26 and then, to the workshop building in Salesianergasse 9 (10 minutes walk between the two addresses), store open till 5pm. Also on Sunday with a (Saturday telephone appointment Vienna number ) with an agreed time for meeting at the store (not open, but tour on appointment of the famous "Vienna Glass Museum-Lobmeyr") and then, walking to a tour of the workshops (not working, but unique). If the participants wish go to Vienna after the ICOM Glass Meeting, for the weekend November 1 st till November 3 rd, this only on appointment during the week of the conference ( telephone number of Vienna or ). Recommendation: Vienna is only 60km from Bratislava and there is good bus connection we also suggest for members from overseas to come some days earlier or stay longer, Bratislava is located only 1hour ride to Vienna, 2,5 hours to Budapest, 4 hours to Prague or Cracow.

2 ICOM Glass Meeting Monday Thursday, October BRATISLAVA Day 1 9:00 am Registration and welcome reception Meeting at the Municipal Gallery (Galéria mesta Bratislavy, Mirbach palace, Františkánske námestie 1) Welcome coffee, round tables concerning the topics of the meeting: Topics: - What is the future for contemporary studio glass - New Discoveries in Glass (presentation of Slovak archeologists etc ) Open for call papers, deadline: September 1 (katarina.benova@sng.sk) ICOM Glass Board Meeting General Assembly ICOM Glass 1 2:30 pm Lunch by own 2:30 Presentation of actual glass exhibitions, glass collections in Slovakia (Slovak national gallery, Municipal museum, Slovak National Museum etc. open for all members to participate) 4-5 pm private viewing of the exhibition in the Municipal Gallery Jan Zoričák (Zoricak) Reception by Icom Slovakia Day 2 Day 3 8:00 am Visit of glass studio of Palo Macho, Bratislava, coffee break Tour to Lednické Rovné by bus, 160km from Bratislava Private visit of the Glass museum Visit to the glass factory RONA and Museum RONA Lunch reception by RONA Recommendation: visit to the glass shop of RONA factory 9:00 am Visit to Gallery NOVA, private glass gallery 11:00 am Visit to the studios of Slovak glass artist Oliver Leššo, Bratislava 1 pm Lunch by own 2:30 pm Visit to the studios of Slovak glass artists Pavol Hlôška and Ašot Haas, Bratislava 5 pm Reception by Gallery NOVA

3 Day 4 9:00 am Visit to the Glass Studio, Academy of Fine Arts and Design Presentation of Slovak glass education by Patrik Illo, Bratislava 1 pm lunch by own 2 pm Visit of the glass studios of Zora Palova, Stepan Pala, Lukáš Mjartan, Bratislava - Devín 6 pm Reception by ICOM Glass NOTE: Transportation between hotel and museums is not provided. But in Bratislava is mostly everything in walking distance.
