Running from 25th-29th September 2017 the Congress will bring together representatives from the global ornamental horticulture industry to debate key issues affecting the industry. Attending this Congress will provide new insight into the development of ornamental horticulture in South East Asia and the surrounding region, identify the latest trends in the sector, enable sharing of ideas and projects with likeminded peers and help you with your own national plans for your sector. Hosted by Taichung City Government and TFDA Chinese Taipei the Congress will take place in the Evergreen Laurel Hotel (Taichung) Hotel in the beautiful green and coastal city of Taichung and a very warm welcome awaits you. Special features of this year s Annual Congress include: Ornamental Horticulture in South East Asia Conference bringing together experts from the region with a deep knowledge of their industry and market developments in their country. The OECD predicts that average economic growth will continue at 6.2% between for countries in the region. While this region outperforms the rest of the world AIPH is taking the opportunity to assess how the market for ornamental horticulture in the region is developing. Representatives from countries in the region will present the changes in their country for the sector and will cover issues including: state of industry, size of industry, growth areas, decline areas, trends, consumer interest in ornamentals, current export/import market and potential for future. 7 Wednesday 27th September AIPH International Horticultural Exhibition (Expo) Conference Delegates will be able to share best practice and ideas with other expo organisers. This year the conference includes a session specifically covering short-term expos as well as expert advice on preparing the expo legacy and creating the perfect visitor attraction. International Orchid Show (Chinese Taipei) - Chen, chen chung, President of TOGA will share the secrets of success from an event that attracts 248,000 visitors. AIPH support for Short Term (C Class) Expos - Mr. Tim Briercliffe, AIPH Secretary General will explain how to obtain AIPH approval for short-term expos and the benefits of approval. 10 PARTNERS TOUR Tuesday 26th September Museum of Natural Science and Dongfeng Green Bicycle Way tour Departure from the Hotel: Dongfeng Green Bicycle Way tour: Dongfeng Green Bicycle Way goes through towns of Tungshin, Shigang and Febgyuan. This way used to be a railway, but has been changed to bicycle lane after September Particularly, due to geographic characteristics, Hakka culture and local landscape are merged into this single-lane bicycle way. This way nowadays has become a popular recreational spot in Taichung. Thanks to night illumination facilities added by the government, this bicycle way has become first night bicycle way in Chinese Taipei. Lunch: Museum of Natural Science & the park encompassing the greenhouse: 13:00 Opened in 1986, the Museum of Natural Science was the first science museum founded by the government. 13 Airport Transfer The conference location is about 2-hour driving away from the Taoyuan Airport. There are several public transportation choices, but we strongly recommend that you could take advantage of our pick-up service. THSR Taoyuan Airport: Please take the "THSR Shuttle Bus" to "THSR Taoyuan Station" at terminal 1 or 2, and then take the "THSR" to arrive in Taichung (about 40 minutes). The standard seats fare of NT$ 540( 16), and the non-reserved seats fare for NT$ 520( 15). Taipei Songshan Airport: Please take the MRT to Taipei Main Station for transferring to THSR. Kaohsiung International Airport: Please take the KRTC to Zhuoying Station for transferring to THSR. It is about 1 hour to arrive in Taichung. It is about 3 hour and 30 minutes to arrive in Taichung. Kaohsiung International Airport: Please take the KRTC to Kaohsiung Train station and then transfer to bus. It is about 2 hour and 30 minutes to arrive in Taichung. CITY BUS Taichung Airport: The most convenient way to transport in Taichung Airport is through the bus.
