General Information; B. RegistrationR n Form; C. Macao Hotel Reservation Form; D. IWM-V Special Sessions on Promises and Challenges off Monsoon and Tropical Weather Analysiss and Forecast; and E. Hong Kongg Sessions Information and Hotel Reservation Forms. For additional information andd updates, please check IWM-V website: iwm-v.smg.gov.mo/ A. GENERAL INFORATION Program: 1. The IWM program starts 28 October 2013 and completes on o 1 November The first four days of the week will be held in Macao, and will include invited reviews and oral and poster papers on global and regional monsoons, high-impact weather including heavy rainfall and tropical cyclones, intraseasonal variations and predictability, physical processes, numerical modeling, andd extreme weather and climate change. There will also be special sessionss focusing on the promises and challengess of monsoon and tropical weather forecast (see D.). The special sessions will w continuee on Friday in Hong Kong. Participants are invited to attend all sessions. Please do not double book. 4. Transportation to and from World Trade Center Macao will be provided for participants staying at Hotel Royal Macao. Transportation in Macao 5. Macao is connected by nonstop flights with 32 cities in Asiaa (16 of which in Mainland China) and frequent ferries with Hongg Kong and Mainland China C ports. Passengers arriving Hong Kong International Airport have the option of direct transfer to Ferries to Macao without going through immigration formalities. Passengers entering Hong Kong first will go through the formalities both entering and leavingg Hong Kong for Macao. 6. Freee hotel shuttles from Macao International Airport and Ferry Terminals are available for all Macao hotels. Taxi fare from airport to Hotel Royal Macau M is around MOP$ $70. Advance Registration to attend IWM-VV is required 7. All participants are encouraged to register in advance regardless of whether a hotel reservation is made or whether to present a paper. Participants registered before 14

2 September 2013 will be waived from all fees for meeting materials and activities including receptions and banquets (Except the ferry fares from Macao to Hong Kong will be paid by participants.) 6 E. Hong Kong Sessions Information and Hotel Reservation Forms On Friday 1 November, IWM-V will continue in Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO). The program will consist of the second part of the IWM-V special sessions focusing on the Promises and Challenges of Monsoon and Tropical Weather Analysis and Forecasting. The lectures will be given by Dr. Rick Anthes, UCAR, U.S.A., Dr. Beth Elbert, Bureau of Meteorology, Australia, and Dr. Brian Mapes, University of Miami, and the HKO Forecast Team led by Mr. W. K. Wong (see E. IWM-V Special Sessions). Some of the lectures will use the video conferencing and IT facilities at HKO. All participants and their companions are also invited to a special reception in celebration of the 130 th Anniversary of HKO. Ferry Ride from Macao to Hong Kong on 1 November Tuesday 29 October: Ferry tickets can be pre- purchased through the SMG Local Organizing Committee, which is the most convenient way. Or you can purchase your own ticket for the 1 November 8:30 a.m. TurboJet ferry ride to Kowloon Hong Kong-China Ferry Terminal. Seats are limited so purchasing tickets two days in advance is advised. (There are several ferry terminals in Hong Kong. Only the Kowloon one is close to HKO.) 2. Friday 1 November Hotel check out before 7:30 a.m. Gather at hotel lobby and proceed to Macau Maritime Ferry Terminal Clear immigrations (Macao) Turbo Jet ride takes about 1 hour to Kowloon Clear immigrations and customs (Hong Kong) Hong Kong Observatory staff will be waiting at the Arrival Hall of the Hong Kong-China Ferry Terminal in Kowloon. Transportation to HKO will be arranged for IWM-V participants Opening of the IWM-V sessions is scheduled at 10:50 a.m. Note: In case a participant misses the 8:30 a.m. ferry, though not preferred, he/she can take the 9:00 a.m. TurboJet ferry to the Hong Kong-China Ferry Terminal in Kowloon. HKO staff will be waiting at the Arrival Hall to take the participant to the venue. Please allow time for clearing immigration in Macao before boarding the ferry.
