1 Special Ticketing Arrangements for Outbound Travel Alert of Bangkok In response to the RED Travel Alert* on Bangkok issued by the Security Bureau of the HK SAR Government, effective immediately Cathay Pacific will implement the special ticketing arrangements for outbound travel from Hong Kong to Bangkok. The special ticketing arrangements apply to travel on Bangkok flights between 2 nd December to 9 th December, 2013 inclusive. Please refer to details per below. *The Outbound Travel Alert System (OTA), established by the Security Bureau of HK SAR Government, aims to assess and outline the risk of travel associated with a particular destination. In accordance to the severity of threat identified, Hong Kong residents are recommended to adjust their travel plans or avoid travel to the affected destination. For more details of the Outbound Travel Alert System, please visit Ticket eligibility This special ticketing arrangement is applicable to tickets with the following conditions: 1. Cathay Pacific tickets (i.e. ticket number starting with 160 ) which are purchased directly from Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong or online at or through travel agents in Hong Kong for travel originating from Hong Kong - For tickets purchased outside Hong Kong, please contact your local Cathay Pacific office or travel agent for assistance. 2. The ticket has to be issued on or before the Red travel alert issue date and is for travel on CX flights between the Red travel alert issue date and the following 7 days. (The applicable travel period may be extended depending on the severity and duration of a travel related incident). 3. These special arrangements do not apply to destinations which already have a Red Travel Alert in force prior to the publishing of this guideline. 4. Bangkok has to be either part of your journey itinerary or your final destination. If transportation on other airlines are involved, we may require you to present the conjunction ticket(s) showing the full itinerary of your journey Identifying the fare type of your air ticket The special ticketing arrangements that will be applicable to you will depend on the type of air ticket that you have purchased. Your ticket is classified under one of the five fare type categories listed below and you can refer to the fare type indicator printed in the Restrictions / Endorsement box of the eticket Itinerary Receipt. 2 Note: - If two different fare type indicators are being shown on the ticket, the one with the more relaxed conditions shall apply. - Tickets issued before this policy is implemented may not bear any fare type indicator. Handling fee waived Not Allowed Allowed with HK$400/$800 (Short/longhaul)handling fee Note 1: The newly rebooked/rerouted sector(s) must observe and conform to the conditions of the respective fare rule, e.g. Blackout dates, flight, application, weekend/weekday travel, stopover charges, and applicable seasonality by collecting additional /refunding difference (if any) as appropriate. Note 2: Long haul refers to CX flights operating to/from North & South America, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Southwest Pacific and the Indian Subcontinent. Short haul refers to all other destinations in Asia.

4 Group Travellers (T9) The following special arrangements will be applied when the Security Bureau of HK SAR Government has issued either a Red or Black Travel Alert and the travel agent operating the tour group has announced suspension of all tours to the affected destination. You may choose one of the following options: Option 1: Cancel your ticket by paying a refund charge of HK$400 for short haul flights and HK$800 for long haul flights. The remaining ticket value, fuel surcharge and taxes will be refunded to you through your travel agent. OR Option 2: Have your travel agent retain the paid amount for future Cathay Pacific or Dragonair group tours operated by the same travel agent departing within six months. In this case, you have to confirm with your travel agent within one month from the original departure date your new travel plan. If there is a fare difference involved, we will either collect the difference from you or refund to you through your travel agent. Please contact your travel agent directly with regards to the operation and arrangements for group tours under the travel alert. 5 Remarks for Outbound Travel Alert System Special Ticketing Arrangements 1. To allow you flexibility to adjust your trip, you can decide your preferred new arrangement within one month from the original departure date. Normal terms and conditions of the ticket shall apply beyond the one-month period. 2. Cathay Pacific will process your request in accordance with this special ticketing guideline only once. Subsequent changes and amendments to your flight itinerary will be subject to the terms and conditions of the reissued or rebooked ticket. 3. All entitlements are non-transferrable and are applicable to the ticket holder only. 4. If the Red or Black travel alert is issued during your journey, Cathay Pacific will assist to change your booking to enable you an earlier return to Hong Kong or delay your return for up to 30 days from the original return date. There will be no handling fees charged by Cathay Pacific but all bookings are subject to seat availability and fare difference if applicable. 5. If your ticket is purchased from a travel agent, there may be other handling fees imposed by your travel agent. Please contact your appointed travel agent on this. 6. Depending on the severity and duration of a travel alert related incident, Cathay Pacific will determine the duration of the applicable travel period on a case-by-case basis. Please refer to for the latest applicable destinations and travel period. 7. In the event of any disputes regarding the terms and conditions of your air ticket, the decision of Cathay Pacific shall be final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.
