Shri Goyal left the message for the Station as Truly an impressive plant, clean, organised well and efficiently running, high standard of excellence are the hallmark of NTPC team and I compliment my colleagues for the outstanding performance of Simhadri. 3 MoU with Ministry of Power th NTPC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ministry of Power, Government of India for the year on 20 June, 2017 at New Delhi. The MoU was signed by Shri P.K. Pujari, the then Secretary, Ministry of Power and Shri Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC. Shri S.C. Pandey Director (Projects), Shri Kulamani Biswal, Director (Finance), Shri K.K. Sharma, Director (Operations) and Smt. Shalini Prasad, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power were present on the occasion. NTPC has generation target of 250 Billion Units during the year under Excellent category. Revenue target from Operations under Excellent category is ` 79,280 Crore. In addition to above, parameters related to financial performance, operational efficiency, CAPEX, projects monitoring and HR Management are also part of MoU in line with guidelines of Department of Public Enterprises. pg.2

4 15 Foreign Lenders Meet of NTPC th 15 Foreign Lenders Meet of NTPC th rd 15 Foreign Lenders Meet of NTPC was held in Mumbai on 23 June, 2017 to update the foreign banks and financial institutions about the highlights of the company s operational and financial performance of financial year , company s future plans, funding requirements, new initiatives etc. Shri K. Biswal, Director (Finance) made presentation covering highlights of Fiscal 2017 and future growth plans of the Company. International credit rating agencies, S & P Global Ratings and Fitch Ratings presented their perspective on the company s credit quality in the backdrop of Indian power sector and global economic environment on the occasion. The meet was attended by participants from large number of foreign banks and financial institutions including Mizuho, SMBC, MUFG and Barclays. One on one meetings were also held in the afternoon session with select banks keen to have discussions to explore opportunities to fund NTPC capital expansion plans. pg.3

6 NTPC Great Place to Work In a study carried out by Great Place to Work and The Economic Times,NTPC has been recognized for being among the best in the Industry - Public Sector Company to work for the year The award was presented by Shri P. 7 Director (Technical) Reviews Pakri Barwadih and North Karanpura th Shri A.K. Jha, Director (Technical) visited Pakri Barwadih Coal Mining Project on 28 June, Shri Jha visited various locations of the mining area and coal crushing house with Shri T. Gopal Krishna, GGM and Shri A.K. Sharma, GM (Project). Addressing the employees, Shri Jha said that he is glad to see the progress made at various areas of the coal mining project and increase in coal production and transportation. Shri Jha also visited North Karanpura project and reviewed the progress of the power station. He inaugurated the Barrack of CISF posted in the plant premises. Shri R.K. 8 Director (HR) Inaugurates Apollo Tele Health Services at Bongaigaon Shri Saptarshi Roy, Director (HR), inaugurated first Tele Health Services at NTPC Bongaigaon on st 21 June, 2017, established in association with Apollo Health Care Services. This is the first project of NTPC where modern healthcare is made available to its employees via an online mode. Shri Roy visited NTPC Bongaigaon hospital and over-viewed the various facilities available under the scheme. Shri Roy said that with the initiatives taken for the employees of NTPC, Bongaigaon will have access to quality health consultancy. 9 MICA Programme on PR A three day Management Development Programme on PR titled- PR-A Way Forward was organized at PMI, Noida from th th 28-30,June,2017 through MICA for executives handling PR at various projects/stations/coal mining/solar projects across the company. Inaugurating the programme, Shri S. Roy, Director (HR) highlighted the role of strategic communication, art of crafting the narrative while doing PR in workplace and the synergy between new tools of communications and employee orientation towards the same. Shri P.K. Sinha, GM(CC) spoke on the PR professionals having a greater role in managing the brand NTPC and engaging in strong Internal Communication. Dr. Darshan Trivedi, Dr. Falguni Vasavada-Oza and Shri Kalyan Bose spoke on the various trends of Corporate Communications during the programme. A total of 30 shortlisted participants were benefitted from the programme. Certificates were presented to all the participants at the end of the programme. pg.8

10 UDAY Scheme: Progress Snapshot MOU signed by the States/Discoms so far: Comprehensive (16 states): Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Telangana, Assam, Tamil Nadu & Meghalaya. Only Operational (10 states, 1 UT): Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Goa, Karnataka, Puducherry, Manipur, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala, Tripura & Mizoram. Status of DISCOM debt and issuance of bond under UDAY As on total debt of all State owned DISCOMs was ` 3.95 lakh Cr. The 26 states and 1 UT which have joined the UDAY scheme account for total outstanding debt of ` 3.82 lakh Cr. Hence, ~97% of the total outstanding debt of all State DISCOMs has been covered under UDAY. As per the scheme, total liability opted for restructuring by the States through issuance of Bonds was ` 2.69 lakh Cr, covering 15 states. So far, States have already issued Bonds of entire ` 2.09 lac crores and DISCOMs have issued Bonds worth ` 0.23 lac crores. Bonds worth ` 0.37 lakh Cr is yet to be issued by various DISCOMs. Hence, ~86% of the restructurable debt of States has been restructured so far under UDAY. AT&C loss National average (all UDAY states) of AT&C loss has come down to 20.2% in FY17 Under the initiatives of UDAY, continuous focus has been given on billing and collection efficiency of Discoms. At All India level, billing efficiency has increased by ~2% from 81% in FY16 to 83% in Fy17. Operational Highlights As per data uploaded in UDAY portal by the States, 100% Urban Feeders have been metered and ~97% of Rural Feeders have been metered. Almost 50,000 rural/urban feeders out of total 1.6 lakh rural/urban feeders are being monitored centrally through national power portal.this will help in monitoring crucial power supply/atc loss indices at feeder level. Nearly 2,036 lakh LED bulbs have been distributed so far under the UJALA scheme. Almost 91 lakh domestic households have been electrified post UDAY. AP, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Manipur, Assam and Uttarakhand have exceeded UDAY targets for household connections. Bihar alone has achieved 40 lakh domestic connections. pg.9

12 School at Lara Township The School opening ceremony at NTPC Lara township was nd held on 22 June, 2017 in the presence of Sri S.K. Reddy, ED-Lara, Senior officials, employees and students. During the inaugural ceremony students of the Swami Narayan Gurukul International School presented cultural program to mark the occasion. NTPC Lara have entered in to a long term agreement with the school authorities to open the school from this academic session at township for the th classes up to 7 standard. 26 Goods and Services Tax GST Goods and Services Tax (GST) is an indirect tax applicable throughout India which replaced multiple cascading taxes levied by the Central and State governments. It was introduced as The Constitution (One Hundred and nd First Amendment) Act 2017, following the passage of Constitution 122 Amendment Bill. The GST is governed by a GST Council and its Chairman is the Finance Minister of India. Under GST, goods and services is taxed at the following rates, 0%, 5%, 12%, 18%, 28%. There is a special rate of 0.25% on rough precious and semiprecious stones and 3% on gold. Also a cess of 15% or other rates on top of 28% GST applies on few items like aerated drinks, luxury cars and tobacco products. Touted by the government to be India's biggest tax reform in 70 years of independence, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was finally launched on the midnight of 30 June 2017, though the process of forming the legislation took 17 years (since 2000 when it was first proposed). The launch was marked by a historic midnight (June 30- July 1, 2017) session of both the houses of parliament convened at the Central Hall of the Parliament pg.25
