3 Foreword Canberra is a designed capital, so it s fitting that the new Canberra International Airport exemplifies outstanding design. The airport s bold and modern character reminds us that air travel carries us to exciting places, for fun and adventure, and to broaden the mind. When visitors land in Canberra, they ll know they ve arrived somewhere significant. The commitment to quality is evident in every aspect of the airport s award-winning design. The building incorporates environmental sustainability, stunning sculptures, elegant architecture and clever use of natural light to create an inspiring entry and departure point for Canberra, while keeping the visitor experience at its core. The new Canberra International Airport was a visionary project, superbly executed by an expert team with a view to expanding Canberra s role as an international and regional transport hub. The Canberra Convention Bureau, its members and stakeholders, strongly support the new Canberra International Airport, the ideal gateway to our wonderful city.
