March is a good time to ski - some of the best snow is in the Spring.

Our other trips, Zermatt, Telluride and Aspen, are nearly full or wait listed. As in past years, we have three Friday day trips planned for Elk. We are planning a Saturday day trip.

Before we even begin our 2017 trips we are planning for the 2018 trips. Our October meeting is beer tasting. The quest experts are Marty Drinan and Mike Roberts.

But there is still time to get to the gym and sit by the pool. On to skiing! Our Jackson Hole trip in March still has openings. March is a good time to ski - some of the best snow is in the Spring. There is still plenty of snow, the weather is warm enough so you are not battling the cold, but it is still cold enough that the snow is good. Our other trips, Zermatt, Telluride and Aspen, are nearly full or wait listed. As in past years, we have three Friday day trips planned for Elk. We are planning a Saturday day trip. Our top candidates are Elk and Montage. Elk and Montage are both far enough north of Philadelphia that they are not a zoo on the weekend. Before we even begin our 2017 trips we are planning for the 2018 trips. Our October meeting is beer tasting. The quest experts are Marty Drinan and Mike Roberts. Our November meeting will be a presentation of new ski equipment by the Ski Bum. I am negotiating to get the Race Bums to do ski waxing. Our December meeting will be focused on fitness and protection from injury. The focus will be skiing fitness, but it will be appropriate of general fitness and injury protection. Marie will provide a Gallery Tour of Made in the Americas, which is an exhibit that will close January 8, 2017.

If not a member, the price of admission to Winterthur is $18/seniors over 62 and $20 for all others, which is the October discount. Meet at the Visitors Center at Winterthur at 10:30 a.m. We will board the outdoor tram for a garden tour and then arrive at the DuPont house. Marie will provide a Gallery Tour of Made in the Americas, which is an exhibit that will close January 8, This is a collection of tapestries, silver, paintings, porcelain, and furniture from the 1500s to 1800s collected from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Hispanic Society of NY, and Winterthur. This is the first time for this exhibit with this collection in the world. You will see silk screens from Japan with details of European merchants from the 1500s, silver tureens from Mexico City and Boston from the 1700s, Japan high chests and dressers from the 1700s, tapestries from Lima, Peru from the 1600s, mother of Pearl chests from Goa, India and Lima, Peru, feather painting from 1650s found at auction in the past 5 years, John Singleton Copley painting of Nicholas Boyleston, and many more items. After lunch, you are welcome to return to Winterthur for a tour of the house or a walking tour of the gardens.
