3 EXHIBITION FACTS Press-conference Opening ceremony The press conference for the opening of the World Food Uzbekistan 2011 exhibition was held on 28 March. Accredited journalists and representatives of leading commercial and news media, TV and radio stations participated in the press conference. The following persons attended the press conference: Mr. M. Kasimov (representative of the Ministry for Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan), Mrs. S. Tulaeva (representative of the Farmers Association of Uzbekistan), Ms. Anna Perelygina (Project Manager, ITE Uzbekistan), and Ms. Oyimkhon Babadjanova (PR Manager, ITE Uzbekistan). The following persons attended the official opening ceremony: Mr. M. Kasimov, representative of the Ministry for Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan; Mr. A. Abdullaev., Deputy Director, Uzvinprom Holding; Mrs. Sh. Tulaeva, representative of the Farmers Association of Uzbekistan; Mr. A. Kambarov, Deputy Director, Uzmyasomolprom Association; Mr. N. Osmanov, representative of the Association of the Oil-Fat and Food Industry of Uzbekistan; Mr. O. Mirbabaev, Acting Director General of Uzexpocentre; Mr. S. The VIP tour of the exhibition took place after the official ceremony. The official persons and guests viewed the stands of the exhibitors. 3

4 THE EXHIBITION The total area of the exhibition was 1624m 2 Traditionally, the organisers devote special attention to the segmentation of the exhibition area. For visitors' convenience, the exhibitions were clearly divided into two thematic pavilions: Food Industry (Central Pavilion) and Agriculture (Atrium Hall and the outdoor exhibition area of Uzexpocentre). Over 140 companies from the following 28 countries exhibited: Austria, Belgium, China, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Malaysia, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Netherlands, Turkey, UK, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Of the total number of exhibitors, 80% were international companies and 20% domestic producers. This year, the exhibition featured a German national stand for the first time, which presented ten manufacturers, including companies already wellknown in Uzbekistan. The participation of German companies was supported by the German Federal Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection. The stands of the embassies of Poland and Indonesia were also presented at World Food Uzbekistan The World Food Uzbekistan exhibition consisted of the following sectors: foodstuffs, beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), ingredients for food products and beverages, equipment for the food industry, packaging and packing technologies, filtration equipment, and refrigeration and trade equipment. The extensive selection of food products presented at the exhibition included: oil and fat products, rice, flour, pasta, canned foods, confectionery products, ice cream, sausages, ready meals, ingredients, seasonings and beverages. 4

5 SPECIAL EVENTS The following events were organised within the exhibition: 4th Master of Quality Professional Tasting Contest for producers of food, drinks and food ingredients (28 March 2011) Best Stand Design contest (29 March 2011) Best Product Presentation (29 March 2011) Most Impressive Debut Participation (29 March 2011) Broadest Presentation (29 March 2011) The Gala Reception was held on 29 March 2011 in the InterContinental hotel, with the participation of invited exhibitors, officials, embassy representatives and ITE partners. 7 STATISTICS - VISITORS Over people visited the exhibition during three days - from 29 to 31 March. The geographical scope of the visitors comprised specialists from Afghanistan, Austria, Brazil, Germany, India, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Malaysia, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. According to the data of the computer registration, the majority of the visitors were directors and heads of companies and enterprises dealing with manufacturing, processing, distribution and selling of foodstuffs, food equipment and technologies, heads of missions of foreign companies, as well as representatives of agricultural sector.
