The common denominator here is that air travel has become all too unpleasant for scores of travelers. While airlines tout record profits generated on the backs of their passengers, many are left stranded with few to no options. Years of over-consolidation, compounded by policymaking favoring the airlines rather than the travelers they serve, has led to a broken system that needs to be fixed. "Airlines that obstruct airport infrastructure improvements and growth or advocate the undoing of our nation's Open Skies policies should use this moment to consider how to make the system better, not worse, with more choice and connectivity for all. "It's time Washington 're-accommodate' the proverbial fox from the henhouse and put passengers and their experiences first in the equation." Courtesy
6 The children who will grow up to be protectors of the environment tomorrow, need to make a connection with the environment today! Nurture your child's nature connection and enroll them in one of our WildQuest Camps. We have been offering our WildQuest Day Camps for over 15 years! All camps take place during school vacations (February, April & June-August). Our camps are licensed by the State of NH and led by experienced environmental educators with the goal of fostering an appreciation and understanding of the natural and cultural history of Prescott Farm, and by extension, student's own special places as well. A camp experience with us will enhance your child's ecological awareness and provide fun learning opportunities in a community-minded and non-competitive atmosphere. Camp always includes nature activities, animal and plant identification, arts and crafts, quests, games, and hands-on learning. Most of the day is spent outdoors. Extended care can provide supervised playtime before and after regular camp hours. WildQuest Spring Camp Monday-Friday, April 24-28; 9:00-3:00 $47/$235 (per day/week) or $37/$185 for Members Click HERE for more information! Beginning around September 19 th, the City of Laconia will be undertaking a long overdue reconstruction project on Lakeside Avenue at the Weirs. With major upgrades to infrastructure (water, sewer & drainage) improvement to pedestrian safety and the burying of utilities (power, phone & cable). Additional features in this project will be new street lights, sidewalks and parking kiosks (to replace meters). After a hiatus of five years, the hill climb, long a signature feature of Laconia Motorcycle Week, will return to the ski jump at Gunstock Mountain Resort during the 94th running of the "World's Oldest Motorcycle Rally" in June. The Gunstock Hillclimb, sanctioned by the American Motorcycle Association and sponsored by Ridge Runner Promotions, will be run at the 70-meter ski jump at on Wednesday, June 14 - come rain, come shine - beginning at 9 a.m. "We're very pleased that the hill climb is coming back to its original location at Gunstock," said Charlie St. Clair, executive director of the Laconia Motorcycle Week Association. "I know this will make a whole lot
7 of people very happy during Motorcycle Week." He expressed his appreciation to the management of Gunstock, especially Marketing Director Mike Roth and General Manager Greg Goddard, as well as the members of the Gunstock Commission, for their decision to resume hosting the event. The hill climb was run at Gunstock 1946 until 1962 and again from 1993 until 2011, when Ridge Runner Promotions, which sponsors the event, and management of the resort failed to renew their contract. For the past five years Ridge Runner Promotions held a competition in the Pro Hill Climb Series sanctioned by the American Motorcycle Association at the organization's site in Canaan. Goddard said on Wednesday that in anticipation of celebrating the resort's 80th anniversary Roth began reviewing its history and was taken by the tradition of hosting the hill climb. He reached out to the hill climbers among the motorcycling community, beginning with the New England Hill Climbers, who soon passed the baton to Mike Farnsworth of Ridge Runner Promotions. welcome on this tour.
