3 About Advance Cairns Advance Cairns is the peak independent non-government Advocacy and Economic Development Organisation for Tropical North Queensland (TNQ) which includes 26 local government areas stretching north to south from the Torres Shire to Hinchinbrook Shire and inland as far as the Charters Towers Regional Council area and the Gulf of Carpentaria. Working with a long-term vision, we provide a-political leadership and create a unified voice for our members that supports the development of business to improve the lives of people living the region. We facilitate connections between private enterprise, industry, community and government agencies to improve the lives of people living within our region. Advance Cairns operates on a membership based model. Our members represent key stakeholders within our community and business leaders who want to be involved in making a positive contribution to the long-term development and progression of the region. Membership Legacy For nearly twenty years, Advance Cairns membership has provided the region s leading business, government and nongovernment organisations with the opportunity to publicly demonstrate their commitment to the current economic security and future economic prosperity of Tropical North Queensland. Our members are socially responsible businesses and civic organisations who, due to their strong vested interested in the future of the region, understand that they need to be part of the only organisation that provides a unified, informed and future focused voice to all levels of government. They are actively involved in securing a legacy of prosperity for future TNQ.
