2 A Message from the CEO The team have been hard at it again and we are excited to offer members a new Tapas menu served from the Member s Lounge. This impressive offering is available from 10am through till close and is sure to satisfy those looking for a snack or smaller meal with drinks or on the go. The Sunday Sesh is back with live entertainment and a selection of activities sure to engage members. You will note the introduction of Pool Tables and Darts in the outside bar area and there will be additional offerings for Craft Beer members. This is a trial to determine your interest so if you believe it hits the mark then please share your thoughts with staff and support this great new initiative. Our new promotion Flying High is proving to be very popular with members. Spend $10 anywhere within the Club to secure your entry and share in the fun on Friday nights with thousands of dollars in cash prizes up for grabs. 4 Flying High From the 10th of July, any member who spends $10 with us at the club will win an entry into our flying high promotion. Each entry will be a paper plane that needs to be made and flown by our players. From 7pm each Friday members can fly their planes at any time and try to hit the targets provided. Planes that hit targets will automatically be in the major prize draw and some will also come with a cash prize. The first 5 people to hit the major prize draw target on August 18 will win $1,000 cash. Craft Beer Club The first of it s kind for Gladstone. 5 What s on at yaralla fitness centre Tour de chaplain Our lovely Alana took on the Tour de Chaplain Community ride in the Lifestyle Church Team. Raising awareness and funds for School Chaplaincy, the ride starts at Many Peaks continuing through the picturesque Boyne Valley; over the historic Calliope River Bridge and onto the township of Yarwun where the 100km journey comes to an end. With over $15,000 per year donated to great sporting individuals in Gladstone, this is undeniably the greatest sporting support program in the region. To nominate a Sports Star today, head to our website yaralla.com.au Aleisha paul YARALLA DYNAMICS NETBALL CLUB/ GLADSTONE LITTLE ATHLETICS Aleisha holds Capricornia and Port Curtis records for shotput and represented QLD at the Australian School Sport Titles in Sydney. Aleisha has also made the U13 Gladstone Netball Team and was named in the Capricorn Claws Netball Regional Development Squad for Tegan Carpenter CANOE POINT OUTRIGGER CANOE CLUB Tegan was chosen to represent Australia in the U19 Women s Outrigging Crew in the Inaugural World Outrigging Marathon held in Tahiti. She also coaches and works with the younger members and this is not the first time Tegan has represented her country. Last year, she was part of the Australian U16 Women s crew in the World Sprint Titles. lochie Martin softball Gladstone In 2016 Lochie obtained his Level 2 umpiring accreditation at the Boys State Championships held in Rockhampton. He remains the highest accredited Umpire for Softball Gladstone. Lochie continues to umpire at state fixtures for both Softball Queensland and Queensland School Sport and at National competitions to build on his expertise. Lochie is currently working on his next goal, obtaining his Level 3 accreditation. Dylan Fry Gladstone United Football Club Dylan is a goalkeeper for the U17 and Senior Men s United Football teams as well as being selected for the Gladstone and Capricornia teams. Dylan s determination got him selected to go to the UK this November, with the opportunity to play against youth teams like Manchester United and Liverpool.

8 Free Anti-Theft Number Plate Screws for Seniors Week Bill Robertson Toyota is helping Gladstone Seniors turn the screws on crime by replacing their ordinary vehicle number plate screws with anti-theft screws. As part of National Seniors Week and supported by Gladstone Regional Council, the local Toyota dealership will be offering the free service at their Seniors Open Day on Saturday August 19, 9am-12pm. Securing number plates is important because number plate theft is often linked to serious crimes like vehicle theft, armed robbery, stealing and traffic offences. Bill Robertson Toyota is fitting the screws after being approached by local Police to help reduce crime and keep Gladstone a safe community to live, work and play. At the open day the Bill Robertson Toyota team will not only fit the anti-theft number plate screws but will also give all Senior s vehicles a free car wash in their on-site automatic car wash facility. In addition, a Toyota expert will be on hand to answer any technical questions such as how to work satellite navigation and hands-free devices. A free morning tea will also be on offer while guests wait for their vehicles.
