2 Materials in all their diversity represent the core of the special display at the upcoming HANNOVER MESSE. For the third time running, this exhibition offers engineers, designers and architects an opportunity to scrutinize specific material characteristics as well as new applications for already proven materials. As in the preceding two years, features three key elements: An exhibition of the prizewinning entries from the if material award 2007 competition Presentations by selected partners of exemplary, innovative materials and specially designed exhibitions Companies, associations and organizations can rent their own presentation zones at the special display.

3 Materials possess a fascinating array of properties. Plastics for example can invest composite materials with completely new characteristics, making concrete for example transparent through the deployment of fiberglass instead of steel to guarantee internal rigidity while simultaneously producing a diffuse transparency. Polymer foams are used to produce an attractive, porous surface with bone-line structures. And the synthetic air cushions making up the façade of the Allianz Arena in Munich lend this soccer stadium a monolithic, diamond-patterned look, while creating the impression of a gigantic luminaire at night. Smart materials are making inroads into the fashion world and, when it comes to travel accessories, we are already used to having luggage that appears virtually weightless. Designers from all different disciplines have completely new opportunities here to develop new products or lend new properties to existing ones. And with its array of applications in a variety of industrial sectors as well as the concentrated focus on materials in its Subcontracting sector, HANNOVER MESSE offers an ideal basis for a dialog involving the optimization of production processes as well as for general networking between engineers, designer and architects.

4 Your participation Apart from competing for an if material award we offer a limited number of enterprises the opportunity to be part of the material trends show without all the time and expense normally associated with an individual appearance. The entire special display is part of the communications campaign by Deutsche Messe AG for HANNOVER MESSE You as an enterprise can concentrate on your own presentation, for which we offer you an exhibition unit measuring 3 x 3 m. The exhibition unit includes the following: Carpeting Basic lighting Furniture General graphics Visitor promotion Press publicity and PR work Beverage service and catering services All organizational work, incl. stand management Back rooms with storage cabinets You will need to provide your own individual graphics and are responsible for the presentation of your materials or products and should naturally also be physically present, since the large number of informed discussions in the initial years of the event have confirmed a high level of interest in this topic. The cost per unit is EUR 3,000 plus statutory German VAT. Registration deadline: January 30, 2007
