2 10 TH EDITION JUNE DEC 2018 GBCQ APPOINTS NEW BOARD MEMBERS The German Business Council Qatar (GBCQ) appointed its new board members, treasurer, auditor and arbitration committee members during its Annual General Members Assembly that took place on Sunday, September 23rd 2018 at the Four Seasons Hotel Doha Henning Zimmermann (DB Schenker) was elected as the Chairman of the board; in addition, Elias Chedid (Seib Insurance and Reinsurance), Adrian Wood (Siemens), Peter Neuschaefer (Dorsch) and Bahman Datsvareh (Endress +Hauser Qatar) were elected as board members. The election also included the following appointments: Oliver Mortiz (private member) as treasurer, David Salt (private member) as auditor, Charbel Maakaron (Squire Patton Boggs), Oliver Alexander (Alexander & Partner Rechtsanwälte) and Geoffrey Compton (private member) as Arbitration committee. The General Assembly was attended by H.E. Ambassador Hans- Udo Muzel, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Qatar. Amb. Muzel. This year GBCQ focused on intensifying the collaboration with various organizations such as the American, Austrian, Belgian, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Swiss and other European business councils. In doing so, it provided a successful networking platform where the participants had a chance to meet new business prospects and bridge the cooperation between local and international communities. Back to Business Qatar represents a vital opportunity for local and international investors to come together in an informal business networking platform. Leaders from various industries meet every year at this event to create synergies and share valuable information on the market. The Back 2 Business Networking Event was launched in Qatar in 2004, 13 years ago by the German Business Council Qatar and the Italian chamber of Commerce, today the event is supported also by the American Chamber of Commerce, Irish Qatari Business Council, Maison de la France, Qatar British Business Forum, Dutch Business Council Qatar, Spanish Business Council Qatar and the Scandinavian Business Council. The casual dinner atmosphere is the secret of its success, with no frills and no conference-style format that promotes positive and effective dialogue among business leaders and decision makers.
