1 13 th INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON SEPARATION SCIENCES June 27-29, 2007 High Tatras, Štrbské Pleso, Slovak Republic INVITATION - CALL FOR PAPERS - REGISTRATION Scientific meeting organised under auspices of Central European Group for Separation Sciences SYMPOSIUM SITE - Hotel Patria, Štrbské Pleso in High Tatras / Vysoké Tatry, Slovak Republic Following the successful 12th ISSS Symposium, held in Lipica, Slovenia, September 27-29, 2006, and previous ISSS symposia held in Torun, Poland, 2002, Siofok, Hungary, 2003, Opatija, Croatia, 2004 and Pardubice, Czech Republic, 2005, the organisers of the forthcoming 13th International Symposium on Separation Sciences invite you to Slovak Republic, to High Tatras resort, Štrbské Pleso, on June 27-29, The symposium will be an official CEGSS meeting in the Central European symposia series, founded in 1990, and held as a joint meeting with 13th in the series of traditional symposia ADVANCES AND APPLICATIONS OF CHROMATOGRAPHY IN INDUSTRY usually held in Bratislava, Slovak Republic, once in three years. Špánik SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM The scientific program will consist of plenary and session lectures, poster presentations, discussion sessions and product seminars. The topics will cover all fundamental aspects, instrumentation, new developments, optimisation, and applications of the various methods of separation sciences. The attention will be focused on recent advances in: gas and liquid chromatography, supercritical fluid chromatography, electroseparation techniques, hyphenated and multidimensional techniques, comprehensive chromatography with special emphasis on: new separation materials, sampling and sample preparation techniques sample introduction and detection systems, identification and quantitation improvements miniaturization and lab-on-chip Current application of separations methods in: chemical technology and biotechnology, food and pharmaceutical technology, clinical chemistry, biochemistry and biomedicine, toxicology and environmental analysis will be discussed. Emphasis will also be placed on automation. TWO SPECIAL SESSIONS WILL BE A PART OF SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM Chromatography of Polymers and Polymers in Chromatography. Electroseparation techniques and miniaturisation in liquid phase separations. Specialists in the field, research scientists, university teachers and students involved in any aspect of separation techniques are cordially invited to participate in this event. Oral communications and poster contributions are welcome. Presentations of new products and research performed by companies are welcome. The symposium language will be English. No simultaneous translation will be provided.

3 REGISTRATION, SCIENTIFIC CONTRIBUTIONS, CALL FOR PAPERS Relevant information on symposium will be added in due time on this web-site. The main symposium programme will be held in Hotel Patria at Štrbske Pleso. Scientific program of Symposium will begin on Wednesday June 27, 2007 by opening morning session and will last until Friday June 29, 2007 afternoon hours. The space will be available also for workshops or seminars. All participants are invited to present their current results from basic or applied research and applications of separation techniques in the above listed and related areas. The organizers would like to encourage especially young scientists to participate in the symposium scientific program. Authors intending to contribute a lecture are requested to attach short preliminary abstract with their pre-registration. Scientific program will comprise both oral and poster presentations. Only limited number of contributions may be accepted for oral presentation. Panels of referees (ISC members) reserve the right of selection. Authors will be informed whether their abstracts have been accepted and about the form of presentation. Short abstracts of all lectures will be included for information in the program booklet. Symposium CD will include the written form of all lectures and poster contributions presented at the symposium: enlarged abstracts-or-abbreviated papers, obtained before the deadline. Texts may be up to 5 pages long, including tables and figures, all in form readable by MS Office The text shall be delivered by preferably, for technical editing purpose the printed copy shall follow. The authors will keep the copyright of their CD-text-contribution. CD-ROM will be provided with full and student symposium registrations. THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING THE PRESENTATION AND POSTER (with preliminary short abstract) WAS POSTPONED TO APRIL 20, THE FINAL FORM OF ABSTRACT TO SYMPOSIUM CD-ROM SHALL BE OBTAINED TILL MAY 15, The interest to publish a full paper connected to the scientific contribution at the symposium in recognized scientific journal is welcome. The papers will be subject to regular reviewing procedure. Please indicate the interest in the preliminary registration. No accommodation is included in the registration fee.

4 ACCOMMODATION Because of beginning of summer season, the accommodation during symposium will be reserved via symposium office only, based on negotiated capacity within four hotels, at symposium reduced price. The price for accommodation will be payed on-site at the reception desks in individual hotels. After April 20, 2007, the accommodation may be subject to available space. Please indicate the interest in the preliminary registration form. The Symposium site Hotel Patria at Štrbské Pleso, and hotels where the accommodation is arranged, are situated all in 20 minutes walking distance. The region belong to High Tatras Nature Park (Reserve) (TANAP), but access by car for hotel guests (also for events) is allowed. The parking at all places is payed, the parking cards will be available on registration desks of the hotels. OTHER INFORMATION VISA, TRAVEL, LOCATION Please check visa regulations between your country and Slovakia, when making your travel arrangements. All questions concerning entry visa should be directed to your nearest Slovak embassy or consulate. We strongly recommend that all applications for visa be made well in advance before the Symposium. The Tatra electric railways operate between Štrbské Pleso and town of Poprad, which is a regular IC trains railway stop and Eurolines coach stop. In case of late arrival planned to Poprad (after p.m., please inform the symposium office, the organisers will arrange the transport from Poprad or Poprad-Tatry airport to the hotel at Štrbské Pleso.
