1 How to come to Daejeon / accommodations around IBS HQ 1. From Incheon Airport to Daejeon 1-1. By train (KTX) : Incheon Int l Airport Seoul (Train) Station Daejeon (Train) Station From the airport to Seoul Station Incheon international airport opened the new terminal at Jan. 18, Depending on your flight airline, you may arrive at the Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. It takes roughly 20 minutes between two terminals. You can directly access the Seoul station from Incheon airport by the airport non-stop express train AREX. There are also regular (or all-stop) airport trains. Regular trains take a bit more to come to Seoul station. Non-stop might be preferred. For more details, please visit: From Seoul Station to Daejeon station It will take one hour by KTX (fast train). Friday is the busiest day (especially afternoon and evening), and so it may be difficult to get the ticket unless you make the reservation a few days earlier. Sunday is also a bit busy day. The direct KTX train between Incheon airport and Daejeon is not available since September 1 st, Here and below in the red frameworks posted useful phrases in Korean * I'd like to have a first class KTX ticket to Daejeon. 2 1-2. By airport bus The airport bus to Daejeon runs every 20 or 40 minutes. For more details, please visit: You may choose the menu as Choongchung and next Daejeon. Terminal 1 bus stop is on the 1st Floor No.11 in front of the arrival terminal and Terminal 2 bus stop is on Traffic center Basement 1 No.5. The bus which leaves the airport arrives in Daejeon first at Daedeok Culture Center located at DoRyongDong ( 도룡동 ), then near the Government Complex Building as the second stop before terminating at the Daejeon Express Bus Terminal. There may be a short break in a highway resting area before getting to Daejeon. Note that right after the toll gate of the high way, the bus stops briefly, but this stop is not an official one. So please do not count this stop as first stop. So, in summary: brief (informal) stop right after the toll gate --- Do Ryong --- Daejeon Government Complex Building --- next stop Once the bus exits from the high way, please get off at the second stop Daejeon Government Complex Building (in Korean, 대전정부청사 ) which is the convenient stop to take a taxi. From the airport to Daejeon, it takes roughly 2 hours and 30 minutes or less with no traffic. Note that there is an airport bus with Daejeon and Sejong, 대전 ( 세종 ). This bus also comes to Daejeon Government Complex Building, but it will take more time. It is not recommended to take this bus since it is a bit confusing. So please don t take the airport bus with Daejeon and Sejong, 대전 ( 세종 ). * Let me have a ticket for Daejeon. 대전가는표한장주세요.

3 2. From Gimpo Airport to Daejeon 2-1. By train (KTX) : Gimpo Int l Airport Seoul (Train) Station Daejeon (Train) Station From the airport to Seoul Station The station of Gimpo International Airport is on the route between Incheon International Airport and Seoul station. You can take the airport train AREX from Gimpo airport to Seoul station. Note that you can take only regular (or all stop) airport trains. From Seoul Station to Daejeon station It s same as the way from Incheon airport By airport bus The airport bus runs every one or two hours from 7:30 AM to 8:30 PM. The timetable as of October 15, 2018 is [11:00/12:00/14:00/15:00/17:00/18:50]. After taking the bus to Daejeon, the rest is the same as the route of ICN-Daejeon by bus.

4 3. To IBS Headquarters (or your accommodations) Once you come to Daejeon, you may take a taxi to IBS or your accommodations near IBS. From Daejeon (train) station, the taxi fare should be around 10 USD. From Daejeon Government Complex Building, it should be around 7 USD. Taxi drivers accept cash payment in Korean Wons, most of them accept also credit cards. * Please take me to the Institute for Basic Science (IBS). 기초과학연구원 IBS 로가주세요. 5 The Conference venue, the IBS Science Culture Center is a part of IBS HQ (denoted by F in the picture.) IBS HQ is within a 10 minute walking distance from the Guest House and Hotel ICC.
