1 DATE AND VENUE IPWG meeting will be held in Beijing, China during October 13-17, The conference takes place at the Science and Technique Building, China Meteorological Administration (CMA), 46, Zhongguancun South Avenue, Haidian District, Beijing, China. REGISTRATION Registration will take place upon check-in at your hotel (both the New Century and Sunshine Holiday Plaza). In addition, on-site registration will be arranged in the lobby of Conference Center of CMA before the opening ceremony. A sign-up form for the excursion to the Great Wall or the Forbidden City, as well as for special dietary requests will be presented at registration. POSTERS Posters will be in portrait style with height of 120 cm and 90 cm width. TRANSPORTATION Airport--Airport Own arrangements Round trip transportation between airport and hotel is the participants own responsibility. For you reference, the following choices are available: Airport Bus: Route 4: Capital airport-gongzhufen (Xinxing) Ticket price: RMB 16 yuan Airport-downtown Stops: 1. China International Exhibition Centre; 2. Xibahe; 3. AnzhenBridge; 4. MadianBridge; 5. Beitaipingzhuang; 6. JimenBridge; 7. Friendship (drop off); 8. Beijing TV Station; 9. ZizhuBridge; 10. HangtianBridge; 11. Gongzhufen (Xinxing )Operation hours: 7:00--23:00.Every 10 minutes Downtown-airport Stops: 1.Booking office of north gate of the Friendship Operation hours: 7:00--23:00. Every 10 minutes The Airport Bus Station is located at Gate 11 of Terminal 2. Note: International flights arrive at terminal 2, only domestic flight of South China Airline arrives at terminal 1. The travel time from airport to the Friendship hotel is around 50 min to one hour. From there, you can take a taxi to the New Century or Sunshine Holiday Plaza hotel, which charge is around RMB 20 yuan. Taxi: Taxi is convenient at the airport. Depending on traffic conditions, it takes minutes from the airport to the meeting hotels. The charge is around RMB 150 yuan, including the RMB 10 yuan highway toll. -Conference Venue Transportation from the New Century and Sunshine Plaza to the CMA in the morning of Monday, October 13 (beginning at 830 am) will be provided Local Organizing Committee (LOC). 1

2 TIME ZONE In relation to Greenwich, Beijing is +8 hours. SOCIAL EVENTS The reception in the evening of Oct. 13, 2008 is hosted by the NSMC. All participants and their accompanying persons are invited to join the reception. All participants are invited to visit the Great Wall or the Forbidden City in the morning of Friday, Oct. 17, RECONFIRMATION OF AIRTICKET Some airlines request their passengers to reconfirm the airticket prior to departure. Please contact the front desk or business center of the if you need to reconfirm your airline ticket, or contact the LOC members during the meeting. ELECTRICITY, INTERNET AND The electrical voltage in China is 220V. China uses a two-pronged plug with flat prongs that are oriented in an angular format. Most hotels have adapters that can be used. Internet and are accessible for participants in the New Century and Sunshine Plaza by broad band or telephone line. Internet and access are also available at the conference venue. CURRENCY EXCHANGE The official currency in China is RMB (Chinese Yuan). Currency exchange centers can be found at airport, local banks and the New Century. The currency exchange service also is provided at a Brach of Bank of China, which is close to the CMA. Travelers checks are not widely used in China and are accepted only by major banks and some hotels. The Bank of China and New Century will cash your traveler s check. The exchange rate for US$ fluctuates with time.
