15 LOCAL ATTRACTIONS Namdaemun(Sungnyemun) Gate (250m) Korea s first National Treasure. It is a stone castle gate structure with an arched entrance in the middle. On February 10, 2008, Namdaemun was destroyed in a fire, but it was perfectly restored and re-opened to the public on May Namdaemun Market (250m) Open-air market adjacent to the Hotel. It is the nation s wholesale center where almost anything and everything can be found. 16 LOCAL ATTRACTIONS Deoksugung Palace (650m) Deoksugung Palace is the only palace where traditional palace sits alongside a series of western style buildings that add to the uniqueness of the surrounding scenery. City Hall (Seoul Plaza) (650m) In front of the Seoul City Hall is a large oval shaped lawn called Seoul Plaza. Before it was turned to the current plaza, it was a historic site where the 1919 Independence Movement and the prodemocracy movement of June 1987 were held. Gwanghwamun Square (1.4km) A landmark national square created by transforming 10 lanes of roadway into a public space where people can rest and socialize. Statues of King Sejong, creator of Hangeul, the Korean alphabet and Admiral Yi Sunshin a naval commander in the 16 th century respected as a hero by Koreans can be seen.

17 LOCAL ATTRACTIONS Myeongdong (860m) One of the primary shopping districts in Seoul. Two main streets are lined with a mixture of street stalls and retail outlets selling everything from high fashion to casual attire. Shinsegae Department Store / Duty Free (460m) One of the top three department store brands in Korea, Shinsegae Department Store has more than 300 shops in its two buildings which is located just minutes away from the hotel and the Myeongdong shopping district. Shinsegae will operate a new duty free shop consisting of five floors of the department store and is scheduled to open in May Seoul Station (840m) The gateway to Seoul. It is a terminus for the high-speed KTX, Saemaeul and Mugunghwa trains. The AREX (Airport Express Subway) connects Seoul Station to the Incheon International Airport and travelers taking international flights can check-in here through KARST (Korail Airport Railroad Seoul Station & Terminal).
