Suitable for: Off Road Camper Trailers, Ground Tents, Camper Trailers, Caravans, Camping, Rooftop Tents. Requirements: Basic navigation and map reading skills. Willingness to have fun. Good AT s minimum, Recovery gear, track clearing gear, camping gear, chainsaw an advantage while not necessary, vehicle mounted UHF CB, GPS, LR license's very welcome (there is a bus that needs driving). Maps: Gloucester Tops N Second Edition 1:25,000 not necessary but shows you where you are. Description: Club members are valued participants in the annual Barrington Tops Search & Rescue Exercise (SAREX) which sees many agencies including NSW Police, WICEN, BSAR, SES, RFS and the TLCC get together to practice what they do best within the structure of a SAREX. The focus for the exercise is the light aircraft VH-MDX which disappeared in the Barrington area in 1981 with 5 men on board and has never been found. Our role is to transport anything and anyone (mainly Bush Search and Rescue personnel)). TLCC club members are valued due to the driving skills that they have been taught and have further developed within the TLCC. The 2018 search area will probably be in the Gloucester Tops area. See past trip reports in the TLCC News Jul2010, Oct2010, Apr2011, Oct2011, Sep2013, Feb2014, Jan2016 and Nov2017. Other: The search itself is organised overall by Bush Search and Rescue NSW and it gets underway early on Friday. You pick whether you want to be involved for 2 days or 3 day. TLCC club members need to be part of a member squad of the State Rescue Board e.g. RFS or SES etc or a member of a VRA (Volunteer Rescue Association) team. This is really easy to accomplish. Ask me for details. Without guaranteeing it, this activity has repetitively given participants access to locked National Park areas including Wilderness Areas. Always fun, you never know what will happen next and you gain the experience of working and interacting with professional and volunteer agencies Trip Leader: Martin DALMAZZO Phone Number: mudtruck@bigpond.net.au World Rally Championships Coffs Harbour
5 Book Now Dates: Friday 16 th to Sunday 18 th November Grade: Blue/Black Limit: 8 vehicles Requirements: Good A/T or M/T tyre s or equivalent Equipment: All recovery gear, camping gear Fuel: Full at Coffs Harbour Trip Details: The Recovery Team have again been invited back to attend and provide our recovery expertise to the World Rally Australia Event at Coffs Harbour. Although the rally itself runs from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th November 2018, those wishing to attend will need to be available from Wednesday 14 th November for the drive to Coffs Harbour (and due to OH & S requirements) through to Monday 20th November for the drive home, making it a 6 day commitment. Good navigation skills will be required and members will need to be prepared for a vehicle recovery at short notice. As there will be plenty of down time, there will be lots of time for photos to catch the close up action of the various rally cars, the rest of the day can be slow, so a good book would be useful as well. Accommodation will be available at a local caravan park, as well as motels in the area if required. This will be a great way to show off the Club in a professional way whilst working for Rally Australia. Trailers: Suitable The Trip Leader for this event will be Mark Grace, so if you have any questions regarding the event you are welcome to contact Mark directly.. If you are interested in attending this event, please let me know your interest by return so we can get an idea of interest and start to plan for our participation. Trip Leader: Mark Grace Mobile: Register: mark.grace1@bigpond.com Expressions of Interest: BIG TRIP CSR/Gibb River Road/WA Coast Book Now Dates: 1 July weeks *we are leaving from Canberra so happy to travel in convoy for anyone interested 1 st leg: Norseman Wiluna Canning Stock Route Halls Creek 2 nd leg: Halls Creek El Questro Gibb River Road Exmouth 3 rd leg: Exmouth to Esperance *returning to Canberra considering jumping on the rail instead of returning via the Nulla but happy for others to travel in convoy with us at any point. Equipment: Standard recovery gear, on board/portable air compressor, camping gear, food & drink **there will be plenty of other stuff to be worked through as we get closer**. Requirements: GOOD all terrain or mud tyres or equivalent with at least 2 spares, UHF CB radio, a comprehensive pre-trip service MUST be carried out. We will also be having our vehicles serviced at Exmouth after having completed the CSR and Gibb River Rd. Trip Details: The Canning Stock Route component of this trip should not be attempted unless you have significant 4wding experience, a very capable vehicle and are able to be self-sustained, in sand, for a 2 week period fuel stock, water, and food. The rest of the trip will depend on weather conditions the Gibb River Road leg can apparently be quite tricky but we are hoping, by leaving in the middle of winter, that we have a good chance of an interesting, but passable route. The WA coast leg between Exmouth and Esperance will be quite a bit of driving on the black stuff/touring as opposed to hard core tracks, but will take any opportunity to explore off road whenever possible. From the RACWA website: But be warned, this incomparable outback adventure can be tough on you and your vehicle and needs a truckload of advance preparation. Stretching over 2000 kms, the Canning passes through three deserts and has more than 900 sand dunes to traverse, some of them higher than a three-storey building. It s called the Loneliest 4WD Track in the World with good reason. It s wonderful, exciting and surprisingly scenic, but the 100-year old stock route is also wild, harsh and very remote. I have a draft itinerary available, so if you re interested please call or and I ll get it to you. Note: When registering, please provide: Name of everyone coming in your vehicle, membership number, Vehicle Make and Model, Vehicle Registration, Contact Phone Number/ address and whether or not you have a facebook presence would be useful as well. Trip Leaders: Gov Wilson Phone: Lisa Wilson Register govandlisa@gmail.com Grade: BLACK - Mostly low range, aftermarket lift, aggressive /good condition All Terrain or Mud tyres, must be well equipped for recoveries, likely that some winching and/or snatching could be experienced. Limit: 5 spaces remaining 3 vehicles are already booked Fuel: Capacity of between (somewhere around 400L depending on your vehicle, and whether or not a fuel dump can be arranged or if we can get fuel at the Kunawaritji community) Water: Minimum of (L per person per day)
