1 TLCC COMING EVENTS TRIPS * EDUCATION COURCES * SOCIAL EVENTS * COMPETITIONS * MEETINGS * WORKING BEES Coming Events Sheets are published every month to keep Members up to date with trips, courses and events that are scheduled in the Club s calendar. Some trips etc may not have been advertised in TLCC News because the information was not available at the time of the latest publication or because they have been registered after it was issued. See the TLCC Forum for all the very latest updates. June 2013 TRIPS & EVENTS REGISTRATION To advertise your trip or event, it is necessary to register it with the 4WD Activities Coordinator at General Meetings or by phone, but preferably register by to 4wdtrips@tlcc.com.au. Trips should be listed early to ensure inclusion in the Magazine, on the Forum and in the Coming Events Sheets. Please note: all dates, locations, destinations and events are subject to change, and are dependent upon available resources, weather and fire conditions, etc. Please always check with the listed contact for each trip or event before just attending. PLEASE NOTE If there are no course dates listed it does not mean that the course is not running, just that the next date has not been determined yet. Keep an eye on the Coming Events Sheets, or on the TLCC Forum for any course updates. Some courses are so popular there are waiting lists. If you are keen to attend any course, please add your name and details to the list on the Booking Table or ask the Education Coordinator to do so for you and you will be contacted as new course dates become available. Upcoming social events DON T FORGET! Can t make it & have to cancel? Sometimes no matter how much you want to go, something comes up and you have to cancel. No problem! But it s important to let us know. So, if you can t make it for whatever reason, do the right thing and let the Course Presenter or Trip Leader know as soon as you can. Call them on their contact number, or send an with your name, the course or trip you were booked on and the dates. It will allow someone else to go and will be greatly appreciated by all. Ours are 6 and 8yo. We will base-camp (in most cases) for 2-4 nights, allowing plenty of time to explore the magic of the Flinders with the kids (bushwalks, play, explore etc). There will be ample opportunity for adult 4WD fun too. The spirit and intent of this trip is to experience the beauty and remoteness of the Australian outback, so we have chosen bush campsites for their ambiance. These sites gives us ground fires for cooking, warmth and above all a point of social focus for the group. This style of camping can mean either no (supplied) hot showers for up to 2 nights. When showers (and laundry) are available they may be a very short drive away. If this sounds like your type of adventure, we look forward to your inquiry. For us, we aim to create an incredibly memorable family adventure holiday, educate our kids about the Australian outback, and build lifelong memories with them. Trip Details: Starts slightly before NSW School holidays commence (itinerary cannot be squeezed into 2 weeks of school hols). Requires families to take kids out of school for last 7 school days of Term 3. This is the optimal time of year to tour the Flinders cool evenings, warm days, and chance of spring wildflowers. Itinerary: Outbound: Sydney to Arkaroola (northern Flinders) via Menindee Lakes and Broken Hill Takes in the iconic destinations in the Flinders, and the best bush campgrounds including Rawnsley Park station, Aroona Valley, Warraweena Conservation Park and finally Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary. Return: Arkaroola to Sydney via Strzelecki Track & Corner Country. Includes the middle part of the iconic Strzelecki Track, and highlights of Corner Country including Sturt NP, Tibooburra and station camping near Milparinka. We finish the return via Louth for station camping on the Darling River. Full Itinerary details available on request to interested Club Members. This will be a fantastic trip for any adventurous & independent family who want to explore a broad cross-section of the extraordinary Flinders Ranges, the highlights of Corner Country, and with the added fun of experiencing it with other Club families.
