Wonder if that person knows about EJP? Check out the flyer on the web site - perfect for sticking under a windshield wiper or handing to a stranger. Print 'em out and store 'em in the glove box. The other Jeep - Molly's Libby on the trails Steve Reichard's Rubicon with Rusty's Offroad 3" Lift + 1" Body Lift, 33" MT's, Warn Winch, Steering Box skid plate, CB radio. We've by-passed the stock lockers so they can be engaged separately and in 2WD or 4HI. WORST STUCK / MOST CARNAGE Well, there has been plenty of carnage since the last issue of the SSN. Some on the trail, and others not. I'd like to use this area to remind everyone that we must use caution everywhere. We except damage as part of our sport, but losing life or limb is not acceptable. And our reputation as Jeep'ers can be damaged too. That being said, please send in your pictures and stories! Paragon is coming up and we should have plenty to choose from. DiamlerChrysler Corporation. 1
2006 Get - R - Done Bash Well, we had another successful Bash. Thanks to all that made it a good one again. There were excellent give-aways like Bus trips to Niagara Casino, local tire stores, 4WD Hardware packs and gift certificates. Group shot of the long wheel bases First, we got to know each other (and our Jeeps) during the Show and Shine. There was also the RTI ramp to test your rig on. Many drivers got under their Jeeps to make adjustments and try again. Group shot of the short wheel bases The Kids had fun with their Jeeps too! Another one Boys and their Jeeps DiamlerChrysler Corporation. 2
I thought this one was cool "Boy, all those wieners make me feel funny" Sweet TJ "Honey, the groceries can wait till after I'm ramped" "I'm just holding 'em for MOM!" Sweet CJ DiamlerChrysler Corporation. 3
Good Job Matt Another Show and Shine win DiamlerChrysler Corporation. 4
Real Truck Club Challenge 2006 Gary Hahn will be representing EJP at the RTCC this year. We hear he's driving one of those "hybrids", a Sami with YJ suspension. This will be the third year in a row EJP has been there. Both times before a trophy has been brought home! Good Luck Gary and the RTCC team - Kill it! EJP Trails - update EJP has been offered an opportunity to use a local landowner's property. Steve, Bill, and Ray have scouted it out and it sounds like a fun place. The landowner is also going to let us camp there too! Very Cool. But this opportunity comes with responsibility. As members, if we expect to use the land we need to take care of it. We need to step up and help with trail cutting and posting it. Lastly, when enjoying the trails we need to keep 'em clean and safe. DiamlerChrysler Corporation. 5
GEOCACHING What is Geocaching? Geocaching is an entertaining outdoor adventure where you use your GPS, to search for hidden containers, called geocaches, that are hidden around the world by other participants in the activity. For more information about geocaching you can visit It s Back! Welcome to the 2006 Jeep 4x4 Geocaching Challenge! This year s Jeep 4X4 Geocaching Challenge features new challenges, new 2006 Jeep Travel Bugs and an opportunity to win an all-new 2007 Jeep Compass. The Challenge officially starts on August 1st, After that date, when you find a green 2006 Jeep Rescue Concept Travel Bug you have the opportunity to sign up for the 2006 Jeep 4x4 Geocaching Challenge. Each month, this site will provide a goal for the green Jeep Travel Bugs. You may enter the challenge by completing the goal each month - by taking a photo with the 2006 green Jeep Travel Bug and the goal in the same photo. (If you do not find a Travel Bug in a registered cache, there are other options on the contest page.) Each month, they'll give away a new Garmin GPSMAP 60CX GPS unit to the first prize contest winner! Did You Know EJP has a Moving Cache! The rules and co-ordinates are located in the Members only section. Find it, move it, post it! TRAVEL & RECREATE WITH MINIMUM IMPACT - Tread Lightly! When driving, stay on trails even if it is rough and muddy and don t cut switchbacks. Travel single file to avoid widening the trail. When allowed to hike off designated trails, spread out in open country. One exception is in deserts, where hikers should travel in single file and try to walk on hardened surfaces such as slickrock, gravel or in sand washes. Use the track back feature on your GPS unit rather than flagging and marking trails. Don t modify the environment for any reason, even when hiding a cache. Practice lift, look, replace technique, if you lift a rock to look under it then replace it exactly as you found it. Following a trip, wash your gear to reduce the spread of noxious weeds. Motorized and mechanized vehicles are not allowed in designated Wilderness areas. After you've finished searching for a cache, the area should look as though you were never there or better than when you arrived. DISCOVER THE REWARDS OF RESPONSIBLE RECREATION Geocaching provides the opportunity to get away from the hustle of everyday life and builds family traditions. By using common sense and common courtesy, what is available today will be here to enjoy tomorrow. EDUCATE YOURSELF, PLAN AND PREPARE BEFORE YOU GO Make a realistic plan and stick to it. Let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return. Know which areas and routes are open to your type of travel. Familiarize yourself with restrictions and prohibitions in your area before you decide where to place a cache. Check the weather forecast. Choose the appropriate gear and clothing for the area you will be traveling in. Dressing in layers allows easier changing to meet unexpected weather conditions. In addition to your (GPS) receiver always carry extra batteries, a map, compass, and know how to use them. Travel with a partner especially when traveling cross-country or in remote areas. Carry water and emergency supplies even on short trips. DiamlerChrysler Corporation. 6
