3 T H E B U I L D I N G B U I L D I N G H I S T O R Y During 1918 Samuel Waring, the owner of the furniture manufacturer Waring & Gillow and the Nieuport & General Aircraft Company, formed the Alliance Aeroplane Company. The factory was located at Cambridge Grove, Hammersmith and they built several hundred biplanes and triplanes for the de Havilland and Handley-Page aircraft companies. To honour the building s past, a new set of replica front gates have been commissioned to welcome you into the development.
