2 Dear Club Members I will keep my comments short this month as I want everyone to take time to read the article by Ron Roecker our club treasurer as I think it says it all. We are having a great year on all fronts. Our membership is growing, our slips are full, our restaurant is busy, our junior sail team is winning, the club is active and we are having fun. While each of you contribute to the fun part, I can say it is a positive experience being Commodore under such great circumstances. For those of you who attended the July 3 rd festivities and found things a little out of sorts due to the weather and cancelation of the fireworks, I apologize for any inconvenience. We have a few more months of summer left and several activities starting off in August with the Great Oak cruise and our Members Picnic. We also have a special birthday night on tap for next Friday. Weather permitting we will be outdoors under the veranda. Coming in September we will host an Art Auction on September 6 th. We really need every member to show up for this event and bring a friend. We have lots of boating left and lots of fun ahead of us for the balance of the season. Thanks Rick Hanson 2

4 An Update from the Treasure Chest Bo om line we are having a VERY GOOD year. Cash posi on we have $35,000 more cash than this same me in 2013 and $60,000 more than we did at this same me in Revenue less Expenses -Our total revenue is $10,600 higher than an aggressive budget which is $56,500 HIGHER than Our gross profit (revenue minus the costs of goods sold) is $13,000 higher than budget and $53,000 higher than last year. Unfortunately our expenses are over budget by $21,000. That makes our expenses $26,500 higher than last year. In spite of the increased expenses our revenue less expense is $26,500 BETTER than last year. The major contributors to our posi ve results are the Restaurant and the Docks. The ground work laid last year is paying off. The Restaurant s revenue is $32,000 higher than last year. The net contribu on from the Restaurant is $9,800 in the black compared to $9,800 in the red last year. This results in the posi ve contribu on swing of $19,000. The docks revenue is $26,750 higher than last year. The net contribu on is $28,400 be er than last year at this me. Even though Club House, Building and Grounds and rental expenses are $22,000 higher than last year, we have been able to cover unexpected expenses such as the upda ng the White Co age. In addi on, due to conserva ve use of the Capital Improvement Fund, money is available to pay for the new well. Cash Forecast The forecast indicates that we will NOT have to tap into the Line of Credit for the second year in a row. It also indicates we should meet budget for the year, which is basically a breakeven year. Our revenues are mee ng our cash needs for the year. Respec ully submi ed, Ron Roecker 4

Hi all, now that summer is here and the boa ng season is in full swing I hope you are all enjoying the beau ful weather, the warm water and the ameni es at the club as much as I am. We have a prac cally full marina at this me and just as full event calendar with something for everyone to enjoy. I invite everyone to try out the new deck we have near the dinghy racks on the boardwalk leading to A dock, adjacent to the picnic grounds. There has been rumors of expanding it and adding a ki bar! We shall see what the future holds. Be sure to check out the new WiFi coverage that we now have in the marina. The coverage is great with a good signal on all the docks. We will be upgrading the data rate that we get from Comcast soon so there should not be any issues with all of us a aching at the same me. 10 The following is just a few reminders that I would like to men on. Marina Courtesy Reminder Dock Carts Well Water Now that boa ng season is underway and the marina is filling up this is just a reminder to return any dock cart that you are using promptly to the front of the club building. Generally try to leave 1 or 2 carts at the bo om of the ramp but if there are already some there please take them all the way up to the club house. New Well was connected at the club on July 3 rd and as a result water pressure on the docks has been great! With that in mind please be observant of any leaks that may be on the docks and let me know about them ASAP. Please try to remember to turn off your water spigots when you leave and if you have a leaky hose please fix it ASAP. If the spigot itself is leaking please let me know ASAP. Marina Ligh ng If you shut a lighthouse light off please be sure to turn it back on especially the ones on the ends Transient Dockage of A and D docks. These serve as guides at night for boats coming in a er dark. Any transient overnight dockage (including non-slip holding member, former members and nonmembers) must be pre-approved by the dock master as per the Dock Policy document (found on our website here: M P P ). A Transient Slip Reserva on form should be completed for all requests or at the very least call the dock master at The docks are our most valuable asset and we need to ensure that any fees due for their use are collected and this can only be done by controlling who u lizes them. Following the proper procedures and acquiring pre-approval for their use is the only way we have to protect this asset. This will also minimize any impact to the current slip holders by ensuring the loca on assigned to the transient does not impede any access to occupied slips, the marine pump out or to the sec ons of the docks that the sail camp uses. 17 Gree ngs NERYC Members, It is hard to believe that it is August already! It seems like yesterday we were in the midst of one of the most ac ve and coldest winters just 7 months ago. I o en wish for life to slow down but it just does not happen. Nonetheless, at NERYC we are having again an outstanding year. We have a steady growth of new members, our financials are all in order, and we have a healthy calendar of events and ac vi- es to choose from with cruises to remote des na ons, par es, sailboat racing and ra ups. And each day a group of young sailing camp a endees enjoys learning to boat. You may also no ce members from the Coast Guard Auxiliary around the club. We are their new home providing space to host monthly mee ngs and other func ons. They are a wonderful addi on to our social fabric. There is a Coast Guard Picnic scheduled Saturday August 9 th. Please extend a warm hello should you meet members. On the social front this month you will find our usual Birthday Night on the 8 th, a Cruise to Great Oak Marina over the weekend of the 9 th, our Member s Picnic on the 23 rd and our Labor Day Cruise to Pleasure Cove Marina on the 30 th. Leading into September where we have scheduled a fun fundraiser for the club in the form of an Art Auc on on Saturday, September 6 th. We are se ng this up to be an evening for members to socialize, enjoy fine art and a very nice spread of hors d oeuvres, dessert and beverages arranged by Chef Brandon. For $10 per person you just can t beat the value! The event is open to outside guests so please pass the word to friends and family..this event is a great fundraising opportunity to benefit our club and a great start to your Holiday shopping!
