2 Springtime in the South Splendors of Charleston & Savannah May 14th - 20th, 2019 Itinerary Day One - May 14, 2019 Rock Hill, SC Today we depart for our springtime in the south tour, Splendors of Charleston & Savanah. This afternoon we will check into the Home2 Suite by Hilton and enjoy dinner at an old english pub called Six-Pence. (Dinner) Day Two - May 15, 2019 Savannah, GA After breakfast it s off to Savannah for a two night stay in the Historic District. After lunch on our own on River Street we will tour the Historic District and also Temple Mickve Israel, the second oldest Temple in the United States. We will walk into Forsyth Park and the historic Monterey Square including a guided tour of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Last stop today is the American Prohibition Museum. This museum is the only one in the United States dedicated to the history of Prohibition. Checking into Homewood Suites Lodge, we will unwind with a social reception of beverages and snacks. Dinner this evening is a southern style Buffet Dinner in the Pirates House, open since 1753 welcoming visitors to Savannah with a bounty of delicious food, drink and rousing good times. (Breakfast and Dinner) Day Three - May 16, 2019 Savannah, GA This morning we visit the Savannah Low Country beginning in Ardsley park, the first motorized subdivision in the city. Continue on to the Town of Thunderbolt, that evolved as a river shipping point for local plantations and we will tour Fort Pulaski, which dates back to the civil war.

3 To n i g h t s dinner is a cooking class with Chef Darrin, a well-known Savannah chef. He will take time to teach knife skills and the dinner you create includes Shrimp & Grits, Fried Green Tomatoes, homemade biscuits and some other specialities. There is also a chicken alternative for those who cannot eat shellfish. (Breakfast and Dinner). This afternoon we board a boat at Hogan s Marina for the Bull River Eco-Adventure Cruise. This narrated cruise takes you through salt marshes to the barrier islands where dolphins play and egrets stalk the oyster beds for food. After our cruise we will have time for great pictures at Fort Screven and the Tybee Lighthouse. Day Four - May 17, 2019 Charleston, SC This morning we head north through South Carolina Low Country taking in the beauty of the marshes that line the shore. Next, we tour t h e C h a r l e s t o n T e a Plantation, America s ONLY tea garden, located on Wadmalaw Island. Enjoy a Trolley Ride through the 127 acre tea farm and an informative Factory Tour, including all the iced American Classic Tea you can drink. We will enjoy lunch under the beautiful oak trees overlooking the Tea Plantation. The McLeod Plantation is our next stop. An important 37-acre Gullah/Geechee heritage site including a riverside outdoor pavilion, a sweeping oak allee and the McLeod Oak, thought to be more than 600 years old. On our way to the Marriott we will spend free time at the City Market. Tonight we sail away aboard the Spirit of Carolina yacht, offering a unique dining experience and breathtaking view

4 of the Charleston Harbor. Experience an unforgettable harbor tour as you savor a gourmet meal and enjoy music, entertainment and dancing. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner) Day Five - May 18, 2019 Charleston, SC Welcome to beautiful Charleston. The Charleston Historic District Tour begins at the Visitor s Center with the opportunity to see the original plans for the Walled City. We visit the Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina and may have the opportunity to visit the Cadet s Chapel if available. Next is one of Charleston s most historic sites, the Battery with the White Point Garden, part of the Old Walled City and Rainbow Row of beautiful houses. Entrance to the Nathaniel Russell House located near the High Battery, one of Charleston s most exquisite dwellings is included. It is one of the Nation s grandest antebellum townhouses that was maintained by enslaved African Americans. After lunch it s off to Boone Hall Plantation, one of America s oldest working, living plantations, and is stilled owned by the McRae Family who purchased the plantation in 1955 and opened it for tours in We will experience what life was like in the 1800 s on the plantation as we tour each site. The tour of the house begins on the front porch with live entertainment of Life in the South. On to Slave Street and live interpretation of the Gullah culture featuring Sharon Murray of Gullah Enterprises. The Garden tour is next featuring antique roses that are over 100 years old. Return to the hotel to relax and refresh for dinner at T-Bone s Steak and Grill. Tonights entertainment is the Gracie and Lacy Show, influenced by the sounds of Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire, Judy Garland and many others. Their energy and tap dancing ability is second to none. 5 0ur destination today is the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, the oldest public tourist site in the Low country opening its doors to visitors in Board a tram to tour the Audubon Swamp Gardens, a unique world where trees grow from the water, islands float and wild creatures go about their secret lives. Sticky Fingers(Southern Barbecue) in Summerville will be lunch today as we depart Charleston heading to Charlotte for the night. Check-in at the Drury Inn & Suites in the Northlake area of Charlotte NC. We can enjoy the 5:30 Kick-Back from 5:30-7pm with free hot food and cold beverages. (Breakfast & Lunch) Day Seven - May 19, 2019 This morning we depart for home savoring the spring of the South. (Breakfast)
