1 THE HARRIS-BARNARD FAMILY REUNION Dates: July 26 July 29, 2018 (Thursday-Sunday) Location: Charleston, South Carolina March 1, 2018 Greetings Family! We re excited to announce that plans for the 2018 Harris-Barnard Family Reunion are available! The 2018 committee members are Robert and Joyce Harrison, Eric and Lynnette Dodson, Barrett and Nesikah Wragg, Elaine Pate and Patricia Harrison. We are looking forward to making this reunion fun and memorable for all. As you already know, the family voted on Charleston, SC as the 2018 host city, so our first task was to pick a venue for our banquet that was both affordable and accessible. The Citadel Beach Club was a unanimous decision, especially after Robert and Joyce made several trips to visit in person. This beautiful facility offers a large airconditioned indoor space, screened porch, private beach, and a sprawling front deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. As you know if you have ever hosted a reunion in your city, the hotel rates are based on availability. Charleston is a very popular summer destination for many with that said, we have negotiated and blocked group hotel rates but we are only able to secure and guarantee a small number of rooms and they will be available on a first come first serve basis through March 15, When you call to book your room, your credit card will not be charged, instead, your card will be charged when you check out on July 29th. Please be sure to ask for the Harris-Barnard Reunion Group when you book. Once we have better information on all who are planning to come, we will send out a link to book your rooms. A Facebook poll will be published for you to choose a hotel that best suits you and your family s needs and you are asked to simply respond to which hotel you prefer. For those without Facebook, we will be sending out a letter with a phone number to call to respond. There were many hotel/condo/air BnB choices so we have decided to present you with our top three choices. They are all within a short distance to the Citadel Beach Club where our beach day/banquet will be held. The hotel pricing ranges, and we have complied this short list of choices based on price, location and access to the Citadel. Please check out the list on the following page, and most certainly feel free to explore other options, as there are TONS available. Reunion Dues The Reunion Committee will be working hard over the next several months to ensure that everyone has a great time. We need dues money to help offset the cost of deposits and food. Please pay your dues as soon as possible. Even if you can only afford to pay one family member at a time, it would help to offset the cost. Dues for the Charleston Reunion are as follows: $125 - adults (18 over) $ 50 - youth (11-17) $ 30 - children (4-10) $ FREE Dues include banquet dinner, picnic (bbq), tour, golf shirt, program This year, we have set up an online payment option as well as the option to mail your payment. The Harris-Barnard Family Reunion is an event that happens every other year; it is a three-day event, giving family members an opportunity to spend time together, reunite with loved ones and celebrate our wonderful history and ancestry. There are TONS of lodging options - when booking, please keep in mind that a lot of the Air BnB s and condos are weekly rentals (Saturday-Saturday).
