Welcome to The Carolina Yacht Club. We re glad you re here. We hope you enjoy your stay in Charleston and reach your goals in the racing. While you re here if there is anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable please just ask. Please read this document and be part of the solution so that we can continue to host a large fleet at CYC for Race Week in years to come. In the following pages you ll find guidance on: 1) Payment & Club rules 2) Launching, haul out schedule & fees 3) Dockage & space assignment map 4) Parking, facilities, resources 5) Lunch & beverage menu available for pick up each morning 6) Charleston Race Week event schedule Thanks for joining us for Race Week. We appreciate your help in making this event great for everyone here and for The Carolina Yacht Club. Welcome to Charleston. Sail fast, Tim Fitzgerald Dockmaster, Waterfront Director Carolina Yacht Club VHF 74, (843) (no text)
1) Payment & Club rules On arrival Guests will first need to see Hillary to obtain a guest card & number. Monday & Tuesday North property clubhouse Wednesday & Thursday Boathouse This card will be used to charge all of your expenses while at CYC. You can pay these expenses by check upstairs in the north building before leaving If payment is not received expenses will be charged to your sponsoring member Dress Code: North building to west of Boathouse: Members only bar South Building to west of Boathouse Ward Room : Formal attire Model Room & Saloon : Club casual. No flip flops, tee shirts or jeans Boathouse: Shirts must be worn at all times on property and casual attire including swimwear is allowed in the Boathouse
2) Launching & haul out schedule Assisted launch times are as follows: Tuesday 11:00a 4:00p Wednesday 11:00a 5:00p Thursday 10:00a 6:00p Launch & haul fee is $150 and can be charged to your Guest card. This is a one time fee whether you launch and pull here, or only go one way. All boats should be launched no later than 6:00pm Thursday April 11. Coordinate with Tim the CYC Docmkaster at or VHF ch.74 Once boats are launched, trailers need to be moved off site immediately. It is up to you to make arrangements for your trailer. Space is available for Melges 20 class teams in an open lot to the West of 310 Broad St. Box trailers must be moved off site by 4pm Thursday. Haul out schedule Boats may haul out following racing Sunday or are encouraged to remain in the water for free until Monday to minimize congestion. On Monday there will also be more time to stay on site & de rig. Please be sure your trailer is ready when queuing to pull. When your boat is on its trailer and prepped for road travel it needs to be promptly moved off site to make room for more boats coming out of the water and member use of the Club. On Sunday, CYC Member Brunch will be taking place so please be respectful and try to preserve traffic lanes in the lot. Follow the traffic pattern on the next page so we can keep things moving smoothly
Traffic flow diagram for Haul Out
3) Dockage & space assignment Overnight dockage is charged at a rate of $2.50/ft per night and will be charged to your Guest card The following page is a map of space assignments for Race Week. Please follow these assignments in order to avoid confusion and preserve space for use by CYC members who allow Race Week participants to use their facilities. Do not park outside of your assigned zone. Melges 20 s and J70 s will be rafted. If you are not comfortable rafting your boat please make accommodations to dock elsewhere. We simply do not have enough room on the dock to do otherwise. Keep in mind what looks like empty space is there by design and reserved for CYC Member use only. Do not park your boat there. A map of dockage assignment is on the following page 4) Parking, facilities, resources Parking is incredibly limited We have far more dock space than ground space. Please carpool, park off site & walk in. 1 car per team maximum honor system. The Club will be in full swing during the week with dinners and other events so please be sure to make every effort to leave open space for members to park and use their club. It s important for the future of hosting guests at CYC for race week. Power and water are available on the dock. Restroom and a shower are available in the Boathouse. To access the boathouse facilities use the West door, enter code 1,3,5 and turn the knob clockwise.
