4 From the Directors chair Hello dear readers, and welcome to our July newsletter! This is by far our busiest time of year with our 26th East of England Rally starting on the 26th July. So many final details to coordinate before we throw open our gates to welcome you all to what has become the biggest individual chapter rally in the UK. The weather is set to be glorious and the programme of entertainment is fantastic this year. I personally can t wait to welcome old friends and first timers and I know that goes for all of the Fenlanders. We are going to have a fantastic party that I promise you, even bigger and better this year and already working on making 2019 even more spectacular. Got to fly as no rest for the wicked! 6 Dealer Principal & Treasurers Report Hi All, Well we are only a week away from the UK s best Chapter Rally! And we are so looking forward to supporting the chapter with a marquee full of lots of genuine H-D gear at some great prices. Jon, our Senior Technician, will be on-site Saturday and we will be providing a support vehicle for each of the rides. Plus we will have a display with artists impression graphics of the new Newmarket H-D and we will also have the Raffle prizes on display in the shop marquee so you can come and peruse (and buy some raffle tickets too!). Look out for our Vodka Night in the shop marquee Thursday from hrs. I m very pleased to report that we are absolutely manic at the shop. New bike sales are in for another record year, and even though we are short of used bikes they are well up there too!. Our parts and merchandise departments are seeing new gear arriving weekly, so if you ve not been in for a while, next time you are ask the guys to show you what s new. Workshop wise we are in the full force of the season. We do have a lead time, so my best advice is, if you would like to book a service for a month or so, please call David now on so we can reserve your slot. The Dawn to Dusk Breakfast on 23rd June raised over 281. Many thanks to those who came in for 6am to do the cooking. After a cold start from Lowestoft at 4.30am the riders certainly appreciated it. Our charity pot now stands at 3,137I and have no doubt that we will almost if not double that by the end of the season. So don t forget to buy plenty of raffle tickets at the rally. We have some great prizes to be won. As always the chapter accounts are in a strong position, particularly as we have a lot of pre booked ticket money in the account at the moment. Our rally spend is in control and as always I ll provide a full rally costings breakdown later in the year. Don t forget you can see the full accounts anytime you would like, simply see me at and meeting or at the shop and I ll happily run through them with you. You ll see two new faces in the shop, Pete Whiting has joined us in Parts. Pete has been a long-time customer of ours and has a fantastic knowledge of H-D s. Phil Coles joins us in Service after a 25 year stint at Cambridge Motorcycles. Both have a passion for H-D, great bike knowledge and will be a great addition to the team They are learning our internal dealer management systems, so please bear with us whilst we get them up to speed. And don t forget to say hi to them the next time you are in the shop. 7 News from Newmarket HD Hi people, This month I m going to talk about insurance, in particular Harley Davidson insurance. Undeniably the best benefit of H-D Insurance is the agreed value scheme. This has a great advantage over any insurance scheme that I know of and has been a godsend in helping you get proper money back for your beloved machine. The one thing you must remember to do if you are with H-D Insurance is to complete the agreed valuation form. The agreed value element is active once they have received and accepted your completed form. This states the current market value of your bike and any H-D accessories fitted. This needs to be signed and stamped by us. Once Accepted, if you are unfortunate to have your bike stolen etc. the agreed value is what you will get, not trade book price like most other insurance companies. If you need any further info, please hesitate to contact me, but well worth a call on and don t quote ref HD20-C. On to other things. Our combined events at Norwich & Newmarket are now kicking in and we have already had the Norwich Birthday Party. Then we had our first off-site show of the year at St Ives on the 1 st July at the new location. We both attended the Thetford Bike Show last Sunday, and next up is the Norwich Ber Street Bike Night on the Thursday 19 th July, with music, BBQ and more Then onto the main event The East of England Rally, where we will as usual be there in force with a marquee full of goodies, technician support and ride out support etc. I will be presenting the bike show trophies in my usual style and I ll be covering the gate on Saturday so stop by and see me! I must say that we have been very busy down at the shop, and as ever we always need quality used bikes so thinking of upgrading contact me or just selling let me know and I ll get you a great price. 22 Friday 14 th, Saturday 15 th Sunday 16 th September 2018 The Sparkle Tour East Event Overview The Sparkle Tour East is one of seven Sparkle Tours taking place throughout the UK by lady H.O.G members. This is the first Eastern event and we ll be visiting four Harley - Davidson Dealerships, taking in some great ride routes and memorable fun times with like-minded girls. If you are a H.O.G member and a lady rider, do not miss this event! We will be meeting at Norwich Harley-Davidson Friday afternoon for a brief tea and cake start up, departing late afternoon for a ride down to Newmarket where we will be staying at a Spa Hotel. After parking up the fun continues with some SPA-rkle Time in the hotel Spa and Health Club, this will likely be accompanied with some more Sparkles (whoops I mean bubbles!) We will be leaving the hotel fairly sharpish on Saturday morning, heading up to Newmarket Harley-Davidson for breakfast butties. Then riding out across some Fenland roads towards Ely, Chatteris & Peterborough, heading towards Uppingham and the home of the Rutland Chapter, Sycamore Harley-Davidson, where we will make a comfort stop and maybe have a lunchtime snack. Leaving Sycamore Harley-Davidson we will then take in some picturesque riding routes via Rutland Water, Oakham, & Melton Mowbray up towards Robin Hood Harley-Davidson in Nottingham where we will say hello to the Sherwood Chapter Crew. We have a reservation at a suitably located hotel next to Nottingham Castle, a short stroll from Nottingham City Centre and the famous hostelry Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem. We might even pop in for a sharp half before our supper!? After breakfast on Sunday morning we will ride east, heading for the glorious sea side town of Sheringham which will be celebrating its 1940 s weekend. This annual event will provide a fabulous end point to our main Sparkle Tour East Event. Yeah, it s a whole weekend of 1940 s style and we re aiming to have a dedicated Sparkle Tour East welcome event and parking area for our arrival which should be around 2-30pm. We are hoping that our group will join the suggested war time Rosie The Riveter fancy dress style with shirts or overalls and head scarf, along with her famous catch phrase We Can Do It. which will be really appropriate as we will have Done It.!
