3 Directors Report Well it doesn't seem very long since my last report but time is flying, two months of 2016 almost finished! The weather this month has been good for this time of year, which makes for great riding. The club ride this month was led by Head Road Captain Muzz and went down through Forest to Apollo Bay where we had our first stop for coffee, then back up the Great Ocean Road to Anglesea for lunch at the Hotel. We had a few late starters join us there and then we continued onto the Edge for drinks. Thirty or more bikes took part in the club ride, it was fantastic to see so many members out enjoying their bikes and the company. We even had a couple of prospective members from Shepparton join us for the day. There are lots of events coming up for Belly has organised a social family day at the Geelong Show Grounds on the 28th February. I am taking names for the Hopetoun overnighter on April 2nd. The Victorian State rally will be held Labour Day weekend along with Brighter days on the same weekend. The South Australian Rally will be at Wallaroo on 30th September to 3rd October and don't forget Harley Days in Wollongong October 28 to 30th. Till I see you all next time, stay safe. Cheers Bear 3

4 The Editors Take Well February s issue is here so this reminds me you better get in early and book a spot for this year s club Christmas Party lol. On a serious note it s great to see so many members out and about on their bikes and making the most of the good weather. Some awesome club rides and social events are happening in the next few months, so we all have no excuse to enjoy each other s company and complete a few kilometres together. On the community spirit side of things, it s great to see so many members putting their hand up to help Ann-Maree Slevin with the Black Dog Ride on 20th of March. The great news is the ride finishes at around midday at Steve s Bannockburn Hotel for some food and a few frothies! A heads up for all members! Our two official community rides now have dates set! The Andrew Love Cancer Centre Ride is locked in for the 9th of October 2016 and the GAWS Ride will be the 6th of November We ll need all hands on deck with these rides to ensure they both run as smoothly as they have in the past! 6 Ride Rules 1. Arrive at the departure point with a FULL TANK of fuel. Fuel stops will be made as required along the way. The time given is the DEPARTURE time. 2. The ROAD CAPTAIN leads the group. DO NOT OVERTAKE him or her. 3. A motorcycle requires a FULL lane in which to operate safely. We ride in STAGGERED FORMATION not SIDE-BY- SIDE. 4. We use only ONE LANE of a multi-lane highway and that is the lane the Road Captain is using. 5. A rider will be nominated to ride at the rear of the group if there are insufficient Road Captains. It is his or her responsibility to ensure that the riders DO NOT GET LOST and to render ASSISTANCE if necessary. 6. The group as a whole MUST NOT STOP FOR AN INDIVIDUAL as it can be dangerous to have the whole group stop on the side of the road. The Tail End rider will give assistance. 7. When we do stop as a group, be sure to stop WELL OFF THE ROAD. 8. ALWAYS SIGNAL your intention to change lanes. KEEP A SAFE distance behind the next rider. Check in your MIRRORS often and CONCENTRATE on your riding. 9. If every rider can see the RIDER ahead of him or her, the group should not get split up. ADJUST YOUR SPEED to do so. 10. We ride AS A GROUP to and from our destination until we split up to go home. KEEP THE GROUP TOGETHER on the road, don t lag behind. 11. Riders and pillions are expected to wear STANDARDS APPROVED helmets. 12. The Geelong Chapter does not approve of its members wearing the large HOG patch on the back of their jacket or vest, whether or not it is accompanied by a rocker. 6

12 HOG Merchandise Hey everyone, for those of you I haven t met yet my name is Trish. My husband Mick and I have been part of the Geelong Harley Davidson club since we moved to Geelong in October last year and we love everything about it. We love the rides, the social gatherings, the great community and charity work the club does and the camaraderie and friendships. I m thrilled to be taking over the role of Merchandise and hope I can do as good a job as Gatz has done over the past few years. I will be working closely with Andrea and our suppliers to bring you guys, our members, some really cool gear at great prices. We are currently in the process of hand picking some great products to represent our club. I will do my best to keep you all up to date with all lines coming through as soon as they arrive. The other thing I do is work at Geelong s Gym just down the road as a Personal Trainer I've had a chat to my boss and we'd like to offer any member who is interested a free 7 day pass to try out the gym including classes like boxing, yoga, spin, body pump and more. If you're keen just let me know and I'll organise it. Maybe I'll organise a GHD Bootcamp in the not so distant future..just kidding. 13 HOG History 16 years ago, Geelong Harley-Davidson was involved in the Walk for Geelong Animal Welfare. Just goes to show how long we as a club and the dealership have been supporting the community! We have all kinds of club history in store for you to check out at your leisure!
