2 Just When Things Are Great I spent the night with friends and headed out early Friday morning, had a great cup of coffee and breakfast in Laurinburg. Things went well at Richmond Juvenile Detention Center, I checked out. I called to verify my speaking engagement at Cumberland Juvenile Detention Center. Everything was approved. It was such a beautiful day I decided to take a shot cut through back country roads. By now it was about eight degrees a cool breeze blowing, crops were beautiful in that area. Old Pumpkin was running good. I thought to myself, life is good. Suddenly it was as though I hit the kill switch, nothing I did helped, and it would not hit a lick. Here I am stopped on a bridge; I walked across to get out of the lane of traffic. There were bushes head high in a swamp, oh and that cool breeze stopped. I called headquarters and got a voice mail. I Called triple A and got ready for the long wait, broke out my canteen of Gatorade, it was still frozen, took it out of the case and laid it in the sun to thaw out. I Checked the GPS distance home. The distance was one hundred twenty six miles. My triple A package was good for one hundred miles one way. I called home and asked Linda to meet us with a truck. I m reminded of the bumper sticker that says Things Happen, I would say that was edited for television and sensitive ears, but today the TV crowd would have been fine with it as is. You know this reminds me of life in general things can be going so great for people one minute, the next minute some disaster has hit. I attended a workshop on this not long ago. It is nothing to see a person with their favorite Harley; months later they had to sell it and are in a convalescent home for assisted living. You know life is that way, things can turn sour in a moment, and it rains on the just and unjust. The Just or saved hurt, grieve and have financial problems also. The difference is they have God to guide, comfort and strengthen them while dealing with problems. Tired of fighting life alone? Call me , better yet call Him Jesus. See you in the wind. Chaplain Webber Our HOG meeting is held the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm. Join us at 6:30 for food prior to the meeting. Look for us on Facebook: New Bern HOG
