5 From the Directors chair Hello again everyone. All good news as we run up to Christmas. We will have had the shortest day and after the festive season is over we have our Winter Ball at Ufford Park Hotel and Spa in the southern part of our region on February 10th. It s a great venue and a fantastic party and chance to wear your best duds. It s also a brilliant opportunity for newer members to get to know everyone too before the riding season starts. The Fenlanders have had yet another great year and I promise you an even bigger and better 2018 with a calendar brimming with rides and events. Our own 26th East of England Rally is going to massive in 2018 and tickets are flying out already. This year we are selling packages and merchandise on line for the first time for our guest and friends convenience. Just follow the link on our website and we ll see you at Fakenham Racecourse Thursday 26th July to Sunday 30th July. For 2018 we have taken the entire site to include the caravan and motor home area too, to give more room for tents and bikes at the top end of the site. All that remains now is for me to wish all of you, your families and friends of the Chapter the Happiest Christmas and a Healthy and Prosperous 2018! From my family to yours x Neily B

6 2018 SOFTAILS - the story of 3 headlights, part II Breakout Right so the big visual difference here is the new LED headlight and the new handlebar instrument panel as per the Street Bob apart from that it has a very familiar feel to it, so why would you want one. Well out on the road the bike is a different animal to its predecessor. The new motor and lower COG makes a such a difference, smooth vibration free running and loads of power. You can now ride this around corners with more than a degree of confidence. With the long rake angle it is never going to be as agile as others, but it is a vast improvement over previous models. With that big fat rear tyre it still maintains the Drag bike image, and the motor delivers with abundance, true arm wrenching stuff. Overall the Breakout is more of the same just better, if you like the old Breakout you will love this. Fat Boy This is a marmite bike. The main talking point seems to be the Headlight. Firstly it is something very different in styling, the mixture of polished and brushed metal finish seems a bit odd. The next thing you notice is the wheels. Firstly the back wheel is now a massive 240mm and a new machined styling, it feels like the design department had loads of ideas stored up and were let loose. Out on the road the 114 motor has bags of power. Hold on when you give it some gas as it pulls hard. The headlight seems to funnel the wind around you better than I expected. Chucking it in to corners is a bit of a shock first time around as that big fat rear wheel tries to stand the bike up, so a little more input is needed, but once you get the hang of it you are going to be rewarded.

7 That extra ground clearance is going to come in handy once you get the confidence up and the headlight means you can sit comfortably on motorways at 70+MPH without too much buffeting. Another step forward, some many positives, just watch out for that blooming side stand! Heritage Classic Turn back the clock and this is what you get. Gone is the Chrome, white wall tyres, in comes the 1930 s styling. Black tyres, black rims, black bars etc. even the lower part of the screen is now black. Everything is new on this bike, oiled black studs, new bags etc. I first rode this bike on some really wet roads, so not wanting to stack it I went into corners in an extra gear. That s when the strength of the motor reveals itself. It just pulls, not a big kick just a steady acceleration. Get it in the right gear, give it a go and this really hustles along. The screen does a great job, you don t notice the lower black out screen. The position on the bike is nice and neutral, so I reckon short or tall you are going to feel reasonably at home on this and the miles are going to fly by. It takes corners in its stride and again that additional ground clearance is going to come in handy I think the neutral riding position helps here. This all blacked look may put a few off, but I suspect that not far down the production line the Chrome will make an appearance in the guise of an Ltd edition Models overall The new frame, engine, suspension package marks a step in the right direction. The list of modifications from previous models is endless & bound to bore most to death, but put them all together and they all seem to work. Styling is a personal thing, so I m going stay away from that. What did I like, the engine, the engine the engine, by the way the new motor is a monster. What didn t I like, the side stand, but after riding all of these I was getting the hang of it I am sure it would become second nature in time. Mugsy - Fenlanders Road Captain

8 Dealer Principal & Treasurers Report Hi All, As always, our accounts are in a good shape ready for next season and we have just over 1k in the Charity Pot already. I d like to thank Dick for helping with the accounts again this year, it is so much easier with two of us and we have the accounts nailed at each month end. Remember you are more than welcome to view the accounts in full at any time, just see me at any meeting or pop into the dealership and I d be happy to take you through them. For the first time ever, we are offering an online booking service for our Rally, you can book via Eventbrite. This along with loads of great information about the rally and the new Hog Pens can be found on the website Seems like only yesterday we started the 2017 riding season, and what a season it was. We did no less than 33 rides of various lengths and visited some great places. We ll be producing the results from the 2017 Ride Survey over the next couple of months, but suffice to say there were some really great complimentary comments and we have had some excellent feedback which we have incorporated into the 2018 Ride Schedule. Plus a big thank you to those that made it for the Road Crew pre-meeting in November, again some great suggestions which have also been taken on board. Following on from the Road Crew meeting we have begun to populate the Google Calendar. There are now basic details of the rides we have planned to date, with more to go on, and we will add more details for each ride as they are firmed up. So, if you go onto the website, click events, the All Fenlanders Events, you should be able to move forward month by month to see what we have so far. Don t forget you can easily integrate the Google Calendar into your preferred Calendar. It will work with Apple, Google, Outlook etc. Terry did a great how to calendar guide which is on the website. You can find it here I d like to thank everyone on the 2017 Fenlanders HOG Committee for their hard work, dedication and commitment was a great year and these guys give up a lot of their own free time and go to great lengths to support the chapter, they do not get paid. As Neily B would say, they do it for the greater good of the chapter which ensures that we as members have lots to keep us busy, be it a local ride, European run or the best chapter rally in the UK. Fenlanders HOG is one of the oldest chapters in the UK and has one of the busiest schedules with some great things to do. Together the shop and chapter have one of the strongest relationships I have ever experienced in my years running dealerships, and this will only get stronger. As most of you know, I have a long history with the chapter having joined way back in 1996 when I bought my first H-D at Newmarket. If it weren t for the Fenlanders HOG Chapter I wouldn t be doing a job that I love. You have my support now and always. Have a very, very Merry Christmas and an Awesome New Year! 9 News from Newmarket HD Hi All, The Chapter Challenge Mileage Competition has now closed and I am delighted to announce the highest mileage male and female riders have been rewarded with a 200 gift voucher each from the shop. The chapter now goes into the National Competition which offers prizes for the highest mileage chapter, top ten highest mileages within a chapter etc. Winners of the Newmarket H-D Sponsored Vouchers are. ALAN MOSS VAL GROOM Congratulations to them both and a job well done completing the mileage. Remember next year we will be starting the 2018 Chapter challenge on February 24 th. Also any mileage you cover between now and then counts for next year too, so please make sure I have your details and I have logged your current mileage reading, any queries please see me or Garry. By logging your mileage you are also automatically entered into the Worldwide HOG Mileage programme where you will be awarded pins and patches for each mileage milestone you pass, check out for more details. Next year we are going to have a few new events down at the shop - nothing set in stone just yet but obviously at this early stage all ideas are welcome. We ll kick of with a ladies evening, then onto a long distance ride evening so you re ready for long rides next year, and going into March we will have an Open House, closely followed by our 22 nd Birthday Party in April, plus lots more too! We have a few existing 17 model year bikes that you might want to take a look at a very favourable saving. Talk to me if you want to know more. Also if you haven t had a ride on the new 2018 Softails, we have demos for you to try. There are some sunny days (even now!) so get yourself down or ring me to book a ride. Product news - we have an addition to the range, the new Sport Glide FLSB. With its detachable screen and hard bags, this is a great bike and we have taken our first order last week. At a mere it is relatively keenly priced, being some considerably a couple of 1000 from the Heritage. That s about it for now apart to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. You can only add a calendar using a link from a computer, not the app. Next to "Other calendars" on the left, click the Down arrow Select Add by URL. Enter the following address Click Add Calendar. 15 Additional information One Day Dun 2018 : HARLEY DAVIDSON A unique Dawn to Dusk Challenge to ride from Coast to Coast in one day from Lowestoft to Lands End JUNE 23th 2018 Open to all Harley Riders and their passengers. The challenge is to set off from Ness Point in Lowestoft, and using your own route visit the four passport checkpoints, to reach Lands End before dusk the same day. There will be a programme of social events to accompany the One Day Run and all entrants will receive a specially designed tee shirt. Those who complete the challenge successfully will receive a commemorative embroidered badge.
