It is with great enthusiasm Perrysburg Township announces Michael J. Gilmore, a 29 veteran ǡϐͳǡʹ Ͳͳ Ǥ Ǥ his law enforcement career, in the Northwest Ohio area, with the City of Toledo as a patrol ϐͳͻ ͺ Ǣ ͳͻ ͻ ʹ ͲͳͲǤ Since 2010 Mr. Gilmore has served as Deputy Chief of Police for the City of Perrysburg. Michael Gilmore is a graduate Central Catholic High School, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Toledo, and his Master of Science degree in Administration of Justice and Security from the University of Phoenix. ǡ ϐ ǣ ϐǡǡ ϐǡ Ǥϐϐ ͳʹ Ǥ most recently worked, for over ten years, for the City of Perrysburg. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Bowling Green State University and is a graduate of Ohio Basic Peace ϐ Ǥ Barrett Dorner and Mike Thompson are no strangers to Perrysburg Township. Both have ϐϐ ǡ Ǥʹ Ͳͳʹ Ǥ ʹ ͲͲͻ Ǥǡϐ Ȁ ǡ dispatching out our public safety employees. 2 Weed Violations: As vegetation begins to grow the issue of overgrown noxious weeds becomes relevant. Some examples of noxious weeds include: Wild Mustard, Canada Thistle, Wild Carrot (Queen Anne's Lace), Wild Parsnip, and Russian Thistle. Residents may contact the Township if they believe a property has overgrown noxious weeds. The complaint must be in writing preferably using the complaint form. Using our website or a complaint, the Township will notify the property owner. Nuisance Violations: are handled by a different department than noxious weed violations. Kelly Hemminger, Zoning Administrator responds to nuisance complaints, including vegetation, trash, refuse, other debris in yards, or unsafe structures in accordance with Ohio Revised Code Section The complaint form and directions are the same as above but will be passed along to the Zoning Department. In the United States over 50 million tons of electronic waste is produced each year but less than 30% of said waste is recycled. Beginning with the July 20, 2013 recycling day, Perrysburg Township will accept electronic waste on top of its already established list of accepted recyclable materials. In an effort to aid residents in sustainable practices Perrysburg Township is excited to offer this new service for free in collaboration with Recycle I.T. USA. is held on the third Saturday of each month, from 9:00 a.m.-noon, at the Perrysburg Township complex on Lime City Road; one must be a resident of Perrysburg Township to participate. This new free service will allow residents to drop off virtually anything with a cord, except refrigerators and ǡ (crushing hard drives) available for residents who drop off computers. 3 In November 2006, the residents of Perrysburg Township voted to authorize opt-out aggregation for natural gas purchasing. Aggregation is a system allowing groups (in this case a local government or group of local governments) of multiple gas users to form a single, larger customer which buys energy for its members to obtain better pricing. The State of Ohio has statutorily permitted local governments to form the aggregated buying groups on behalf of their citizens. The governmental aggregator chooses an outside supplier for all of the customer-members in its group. Qualifying households and small commercial users (less than 5,000 Ccf per year) are automatically included in the aggregation pricing offer. Qualifying customers will receive a notice offering the opportunity to opt out of aggregation pricing should they choose. Upon receiving its original authorization to become a governmental aggregator, Perrysburg Township joined the Northwest Ohio Aggregation Coalition (NOAC). From 2007 until June 2013, NOAC chose as the natural gas supplier to the coalition. Initially, IGS reliably offered better pricing than Columbia Gas of Ohio. Since 2010, however, there were three periods of time, including the present, during which rates were higher than Columbia Gas of Ohio s rates. Whenever IGS was unable to obtain better pricing, residents reverted to Columbia Gas of Ohio as their natural gas supplier. The process of moving back and forth between suppliers has been a source of confusion. Currently, without a contract for aggregation pricing, Perrysburg Township terminated its membership in NOAC natural gas aggregation and has entered into a contract with Buckeye Energy Brokers, Inc. Buckeye Energy procured an offer from Volunteer Energy Services, Inc. (VESI) for aggregation pricing cheaper than Columbia Gas or NOAC, with pricing guaranteed for two years. Across the board, households and small businesses will experience cash savings and stability in pricing as a result of a guaranteed locked in rate. Savings will vary from household to household, according to actual usage. There is no charge to individual users to enter or leave aggregation pricing. Average annual natural gas consumption for U.S. Midwest residential customers is 1005 Ccf. Natural gas consumption is measured in cubic feet (a unit of volume) and is generally billed in units of 100 cubic feet --- abbreviated Ccf. Settlement pricing of natural gas futures contracts, traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), is commonly used as a basis to establish the customer burner tip price of the natural gas commodity. NYMEX settlement prices for the aggregation pricing are established monthly. Aggregation pricing is based on the NYMEX plus pricing model per Ccf. The monthly NYMEX settlement price, plus a retail adder constitutes the retail or burner tip price under the VESI contract. 4 The Board of Trustees wish to express their gratitude for LisaAnne Gregg s years of service to Perrysburg Township and wish her the best in her retirement. Mrs. Gregg began as a part-time public safety dispatcher in 2001 and became full time in Her work in dispatching began in 1980 for the Walbridge Police Department; she has also worked for the ǯϐ Ǥ Mrs. Gregg s last day with Perrysburg Township will be July 31, ƭ DŽ Ǖ. ǂ Ƶ 8Ʊ Ǐƻ ƣ DŽ Ǖ 1( I am going to just relate some of the highlights of the accomplishments of the Township over the past three months. There simply is not space in the newsletter to report everything we do on a daily basis for the residents and businesses in Perrysburg Township. The following is a partial list: Collected over 3 tons of refuse and debris from the Township roads. Repurposed a pickup truck seized by Township police to a Township vehicle for use by the Zoning Department. Saw our SWAT Team recognized by the American Society of Industrial Security. Hired two full time dispatchers and a Deputy Police Chief. Attended the Perrysburg Area Chamber of Commerce Showcase on Business. Recognized Elsie Hetman for her years of service on the Board of Zoning Appeals. Approved a 20 year interest-free loan for road resurfacing. Approved relocation of the Recreation Department shelter house to the Lime City School site. Approved asbestos removal and demolition of the old Lime City School building. Approved a contract with Perry Pro Tech to provide information technology services. Applied for a grant for recreation equipment. Entered into a memorandum of understanding with the City of Perrysburg for paving Township roads in potential annexation areas. Applied for a grant with Wood County and the City of Perrysburg for the reconstruction of Jefferson Street. Approved a $190, loan to the Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. Received grant approval for road safety improvements. Approved a policy for election campaign signage for Township roads and property. Approved an agreement for natural gas aggregation. Upgraded the 911 dispatch system. We want to make our Township the best place to live and work in Northwest Ohio! Jackson has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy which is a fatal fasting acting muscle wasting Ǥͷ April 13: Perrysburg Township had a booth at the Perrysburg Area Chamber of Commerce Showcase on Commerce at the Hilton Garden Inn. April 27: National Prescription Take Back Day. Over 90 individuals dropped off unwanted or unused medications at the Walgreens on Fremont Pike. May 4: Recycle Roundup. Residents of Perrysburg and Middleton Township as well as the Cities of Perrysburg and Rossford dropped off electronics, tires, computer equipment, Ǥ May 14: Toledo Chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) annual Law Enforcement Night. The Northern Regional SWAT Task Force was honored with The ϐ Ǥ Above are members of the Perrysburg Township Police Department who serve on the SWAT team. May 18: Lowe s Home Improvement Safety Day.
