Township zoning provides for the orderly development of land, use of land for its most suitable purpose, protection of the ǡ ϐǡ ǡ neighborhoods, regulation of land uses and structures, protection of landowners from the establishment of ǡϐǡ ǡ Ǥϐ and regulations for all types of land use, except agricultural uses, which is generally exempt from local zoning regulations. Perrysburg Township zoning requires non- ϐ Ǥ ϐǥ un-zoned area will be included on the November 2014 ballot. Only electors residing in the un-zoned area will be eligible to vote on this initiative. One can view the map on our website and residents are also welcomed to come to the Township Hall on Lime City Road to review the map and text in person. If there are any questions please contact Kelly at or khemminger@perrysburgtownship.us. Six months into 2014, the Fire and EMS Department has responded to over 800 total runs. 5 Don t Let Your Pet Pollute Keep Storm Drains for Rainwater Only... Cleaning up after a cat or dog is something we can all ϐ Ǥ Proper disposal of waste can prevent the spread of harmful bacteria and viruses from animals to humans. Organic matter in pet waste can degrade water quality. The decay of waste uses up dissolved oxygen and Ǥ ϐ aquatic life. Anything trash, grass, pesticides, fertilizers, oil, antifreeze, etc. that is carried by rainfall, snowmelt or ϐ up in local waterways and ultimately in Lake Erie. Unlike the wastewater from your home that is treated by a septic system or wastewater treatment plant, ϐ nearest river, stream, or ditch. Good Housekeeping Pick up pet waste from your yard. Carry disposable bags while walking your dog so you can pick up and dispose of waste properly. Good Housekeeping The ideal solution is to pick up after your dog and ϐ Ǥ treated before water returns to rivers and lakes. You can also put animal waste in your trash bin. Dispose of waste in the bag you collect it in. Just tie the bag tightly to avoid a spill. Do not put pet waste in a catch basin, storm drain, or in the street. Do not add pet waste to a compost bin. The compost pile will not get warm enough to kill diseasecausing organisms. Do not use pet waste as lawn or garden fertilizer. Maintain you car so it will not leak oil, antifreeze, ǡ ϐ Use pesticides and fertilizers carefully & sparingly Avoid over-watering lawn and garden. Be sure to properly use and dispose of all household hazardous waste (used motor oil, cleaners, paints, etc.) Information provided by the Stormwater Coalition, a committee of the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG). 5 Perrysburg Township Post Vol.5 Issue 3
