Then in 1991 various departments of The British Library moved in and stayed until a major re-furbishment was carried out in 2005/6. From 2007, Staple Court has been the home of GS1 UK.

3 HISTORIC VENUE WELCOMING STAFF PROFESSIONAL STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGY A short history of Staple Court The earliest reference to Staple Inn can be traced back to 1292 when the building was known as le Stapled Halle, probably a covered market. The Staple was a duty on wool that was introduced in 1275 so that the tax burden should be borne by foreign buyers of wool, rather than the UK merchants. Fast forward to The architect Sir John Taylor designed a building with an impressive Galleria style structure for the Patent Office. What is now the Boardroom was used as a court room by the Patent Office Commissioner to hear disputes from Patent holders. Then in 1991 various departments of The British Library moved in and stayed until a major re-furbishment was carried out in 2005/6. From 2007, Staple Court has been the home of GS1 UK. We are a community of over 28,000 members and one of 111 independent, not-for-profit GS1 organisations operating across 150 countries worldwide. We have been helping everyone involved in making, moving and trading goods to automate and standardise their supply chain processes using the common language of GS1 global standards for over 40 years. Today there are over 5 billion successful scans of a GS1 barcode every single day. Behind the most ancient part of Holborn where certain gabled houses some centuries of age still stand looking on the public way, is a little nook called Staple Inn. Capacity: Catering Price Catering Price Buffet lunch A buffet selection is available, including finger foods, sandwiches, cold fork buffets, fruit selections, and servings of tea, coffee, juice and water. Price on application (charged at cost) Cancellation policy Bookings cancelled five working days or less prior to the date of the meeting: 100% room hire fee will be charged. Series bookings: any cancellations that reduce the number of bookings to less than four will result in the remaining bookings attracting the full hire fee. The five working days cancellation policy applies. Lunch bookings: if cancelled two working days or less prior to the date of the meeting the full cost will apply. The entrance is via a wide flight of steps. From Holborn underground station (disabled access) Take the High Holborn exit out of the underground station Turn right onto High Holborn Proceed down High Holborn Turn right into Chancery Lane Proceed down Chancery Lane Turn left into Cursitor Street Take the first left into Tooks Court By bus 17, 45, 46, 341 & 710 all stop at Holborn Circus/Fetter Lane 8, 25, 242, 521 & N8 all stop on High Holborn next to Chancery Lane underground station 17, 45, 46, & 341 all stop on Grays Inn Road By train Easy to reach from all central London mainline train stations.
