2 CLUB PURPOSE The Golden Hills Mustang Club, established in 1982, is a nonprofit organization, the purpose of which is to promote the admiration, ownership, care and maintenance of the Ford Mustang Automobile - regardless of model year. The club provides a social group for its members whereby they can meet, socialize and maintain a spirit of good fellowship, and participate in activities including the use of their Mustang. 3 By President Kirk Stafford It has been a pleasure to serve as your club president and I look forward to continuing to serve as the past president of the Golden Hills Mustang Club. As my presidency comes to an end, it is time to thank each and every one of the Golden Hills Mustang Club members for their continued support and friendship. It is because of my passion for the Mustang that I joined the club but it is because of the friendships and acquaintances that I have made in the club that I continue my membership. I wish for the club to continue to grow and prosper. I know it will with the help and support of each of you. I would like to thank all of the current board members as well as volunteer chairs who quietly put in hours of work to help this club function. The club could not have made it through this year without your help. Welcome to the 2019 officers and board members and thanks for stepping up to lead our club for I think 2019 will be a great year with a multitude of wonderful club activities and events, so sit back and enjoy the ride. The events on the club calendar for the rest of 2018 include the December board meeting at the Stafford residence on 12/6; the annual Golden Hills Mustang Club Christmas party, hosted by Cristy and Dan Cordeiro at the Elks Lodge in Napa on 12/8; the annual Wreaths Across America at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon on 12/15 and the Christmas Bingo Party for Seniors from a Rest Home, sponsored by Tammy and Mike Robinette on 12/17. I have had the pleasure of some of the closest relationships I have ever had because of this Pony Car called the Mustang. First of all, I would like to say that I consider each and every one of you not just friends, but good friends, actually some more like family. We are a great club with great members. If we work together we can make 2019 another memorable, action packed and fun year. It is also important to remember the club s many charitable commitments, including food donations for several local food banks, St Marks Lutheran and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. In addition we send monthly packages of supplies, food and magazines to our troops overseas. Please continue to bring food donations and Pony Express Troop donations to our events and meetings. In closing I would like to thank all of you who have helped make this club what it is today. You know who you are. You are what make this club such a huge success. Remember, get out there and enjoy our club events. Be careful out there! Christmas for Seniors Sponsored by Mike & Tammy Robinette It's the time of year for giving, so Mike and I have decided to sponsor Cottage Oaks Assisted Living and Rest Home. On December 17th, 2018 we will be hosting a Bingo Day. All residents that attend will receive a gift when they enter to play. There will also be prizes for each person that wins a bingo. We will be providing desserts for them to enjoy while playing. As many of these residents do not have visitors all year long we thought it would be a fun and rewarding thing to do. We are asking that if any of our club members would like to donate any items for prizes. (See list below) it would be truly appreciated. 4 . On Friday Nov. 16 th I saw a post on Facebook from the Elks Lodge in Chico, California, one of the evacuation centers. In it was an update on the number of people displaced by the massive and very destructive Camp Fire that destroyed the town of Paradise and was still not contained. They were asking for help and donations, they provided a list of items needed with an emphasis on respirators/masks. Apparently, they cannot get them anywhere due to the demand. I thought I can help with that so I immediately went to the local Home Depot and bought all they had, all 210 of them! When I returned to the shop, I went through the list for other items I might have extra of, new shirts and other articles of clothes were also needed. I wondered how many new never worn car show t-shirts I had in boxes, the answer was 51! Then I wondered how many of my friends and fellow club members had car show shirts sitting around. I posted the list of items from the Elks Lodge on my Facebook page and ed it to Dan McCabe so he could send out a blast to the club and Operation Camp Fire Relief was born. Whatever donations we could gather by Sunday afternoon I would take up to the Elks Lodge in Chico on Monday. This was very short notice so I wasn t expecting much, not everyone monitors Facebook or their daily. On Sunday, first Dan and Cristy Cordeiro stopped by with several bags full of items, then George and Christine Pezzolo, followed by Sue Calvert and her friend Eugene. We actually ended up watching Joey Logano win the NASCAR Cup Championship together! Come Monday morning Brenda and I made the trip up to Chico with the Dually cab packed full of supplies. The volunteers at the Elks Lodge were very thankful. Thank you to everyone that donated and to Dan McCabe for helping me organize this on such short notice. 5 Saturday, November 24 th was the annual Golden Hills Mustang Club toy drive. This year schedules the toy drive on Saturday to try to take advantage of more shoppers still taking shopping the extended black Friday deals. This year s toy drive was also moved to Walgreens at 2590 N. Texas Street in Fairfield so the public could potentially go into Walgreens and purchase toys to donate for out toy drive. We hoped to have a bigger turn out and to collect more toys for local kids by having it at Walgreens. The hours for the toy drive were between 11am and 3pm. We collected 206 toys and $ in gift cards. The toys and gift cards we collected will be given the California Highway Patrol for their CHIPS for Kids toy drive program. Several members brought their Mustangs out for one last event for the year and joined us for the GHMC annual toy drive. I want to thank Ileine and Terry Burke for co-chairing this event and also all the GHMC members who donated toys for this year s GHMC toy drive. By Kirk Stafford 5

6 Sally Wright s 2014 Convertible, Ruby Meet Ruby! She s a 2014 daily driver who loves sunny, top-down trips to the ocean. She also enjoys scenic drives to places like Napa, Santa Rosa, Redding, Lake Shasta, Fort Bragg, Crescent City, and even Oregon. Her other hobbies include participating in local parades and Mustang club events. She s happy to join the herd and gallop around to see the River Cats play, peruse the Almond Festival, or tour Apple Hill, among other places. Her driver of 3 years decided within two months that she was not an SUV person and needed to reclaim her moniker of Mustang Sally. By Sally Wright 6

7 FROM THE MCA Did you all have a great Thanksgiving? I know I certainly did and since I just finished ordering my National Director s shirts for next year, I thought now would be a good time to remind you we are looking for a new Regional Director for the club. If you are interested please contact me and I ll fill you in on the duties. Although it might seem there isn t much going on this time of year with the MCA, I can assure you the current Board and Judges are quite busy. Have you all seen the MCA website lately? If so, you know it s a little antiquated and not very user friendly. The Executive and Internet Committees have been working hard to roll out a new WordPress based modular website set to go online by the beginning of next year. It will be modern, user friendly, maintainable, and easily upgraded for the future. The Judging Committee and Head Judges are working on rule and class changes for next year s National show season. The Finance Committee is working on next year s budget, in fact all of the Directors are busy working to increase benefits and improve the experience for the membership. Next year we have three MCA Nationals and one Grand National. Houston in March, Minneapolis in June, Topeka in July (also an MCA Driving Event), and the Grand National in Fredericksburg VA Labor Day weekend. If you ve never been to one and just want to check it out before entering your car, I recommend Houston. Mustangs Take Flight will be held at the Lone Star Flight Museum in Houston and you will have the opportunity to ride in some of their aircraft. Discounted flights will be available in their B-17, B- 25, SBD Dauntless, T6 Texan, and a few other aircraft. The dinner banquet will be held at the Johnson Space Center Museum and includes unlimited access to four different simulators. Hoping you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. With a passion for helping Veterans, the day after Bill retired, he found himself at Solano County s Department of Veteran Services looking to help wherever he could. Bill ended up volunteering for a year. Now, you can find Bill helping Veterans in his current position as an extra help Veterans Benefits Counselor. Congratulations, Bill and thank you for your service! 7
