4 WELCOME ADDRESS Shigeto Yamawaki Jun Soo Kwon Globalization has broken down the traditional boundaries separating individuals and societies, and technological innovation such as internet and smart phones have provided us with effectiveness, convenience and affluence. However, these processes are changing the nature of human interaction and clearly have both negative and positive results, and it is likely to create both losers and winners. According to a WHO report, the prevalence rate of mental disorders such as depression, anxiety and drug abuse has been rapidly increasing both in developed and developing countries. CINP is the only International College of Neuropsychopharmacology that has been contributing to the development of pharmacotherapy for mental disorders for more than half a century. In the long history of the CINP, the memorable 30 th Congress will be held in Seoul, Korea, on 3 rd 5 th July 2016, which is the third time in Asia following the 1990 Kyoto Congress and 2010 Hong Kong Congress. Seoul is the capital city of Republic of Korea with an official history of 600 years. The Congress Venue, Convention & Exhibition Center (COEX) is located in the centre of the city and easily accessible from Incheon airport which is convenient for air travellers coming from Europe and America as well as any point in Asia. 5 ABOUT CINP The International College of Neuropsychopharmacology (CINP) is a truly worldwide organisation established over 50 years ago in Zurich, Switzerland. CINP hold meetings all over the world with the aim to promote research and education on a worldwide basis. These meetings mainly cover one of the four types below: - Thematic Meetings - Regional Meetings - Training/Educational Programmes - Biennial World Congress Any member of CINP is able to submit a proposal to the Executive Committee via the CINP Central Office should you wish to hold a Thematic or Regional Meeting in your area. The Executive Committee and Councillors of CINP are nominated by the membership and serve as an officer of the College for a minimum of 4 years. These individuals cover a wide range of disciplines within the field, from psychiatrists, psychopharmacologists, basic and clinical researchers to clinical psychologists. CINP also relies on its many subcommittees who undertake a variety of activities for the College. Membership of the College is available to any individual to apply for and we offer members the opportunity to become part of this knowledgeable group of scientists who work at an international level. The membership application is reviewed by a dedicated committee on a regular basis and application can be made online. As a member of CINP you may have the opportunity to be invited to one of the smaller meetings or invited to participate in the running of the College by sitting on a sub-committee. The International Journal of Neuropsychopharmacology (IJNP), with a steadily increasing impact factor, has become a sought after publication. Articles are received and peerreviewed independently and published after a rigorous review process. 6 ABOUT 11 SEOUL Seoul is the capital and largest metropolis of Republic of Korea. The Seoul Capital Area, which includes the surrounding Incheon metropolis and Gyeonggi province, is the world s second largest metropolitan area with over 25.6 million people and home to over half of Republic of Koreans along with 632,000 international residents. Seoul has been the capital of Korea for more than 600 years, since the Joseon Dynasty ( ). Seoul has developed into a bustling metropolis, acting as the hub for political, economical, social and cultural matters. The Han River, which runs through the centre of the city, divides Seoul into the culture and history-orientated northern region, and the businessorientated southern region. The speaker will be chosen by the International Scientific Programme Committee. One will be offered in the first instance to the Level 1 sponsor and subsequently on a first come, first served basis. 21 INDIVIDUAL SPONSORSHIP ITEMS Rafaelsen Travel Award USD 5,000 per individual award In 1986 Ole Rafaelsen and William Bunney were instrumental in establishing a CINP programme supporting the attendance of young scientists at the 15th CINP Congress in That program was posthumously named the Rafaelsen Fellowship Award to honour Dr. Rafaelsen, who died in The recipients of the 30 th World Congress Awards will be chosen by an international scientific jury. Awardees will be selected and presented with Awards consisting of round trip economy air travel, up to 3 night s accommodation, certificate and waived registration fees at the 30 th CINP World Congress in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Guidelines: The Young Investigator Awards are open to individuals world-wide, independent of nationality, sex or race. Applications must be sponsored by a CINP member; self-nominations are accepted. Those nominated may be researchers or clinicians, but must have made a commitment to the field of neuropsychopharmacology. 22 INDIVIDUAL SPONSORSHIP ITEMS Max Hamilton Memorial Prize USD 15,000 per individual award Max Hamilton, M.D., F.R.C.P., F.R.C.Psych., D.P.M. ( ) is best known for his assessment of depressive illness through psychometrics. The Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression is widely used throughout the world, and his 1960 paper on the problem of measuring the severity of depression is probably the most cited medical publication in the second half of the twentieth century. The recipient of the 2016 award will be chosen by an international scientific jury by March This prize consists of a monetary award of $10,000 (USD) and an engraved plaque, to be presented at the 30 th CINP World Congress in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Guidelines: The Max Hamilton Memorial Prize is given to a young scientist in recognition of an outstanding contribution to psychopharmacology. Nominations can be made by any individual; nominees need not be members of the CINP, but must be less than 41 years of age on 31 st December The contributions may be in clinical evaluation or services, in pre-clinical or clinical research, or any combination of these. The contributions may be empirical advances or a theoretical construct, based on a single discovery or a cumulative body of work. 23 INDUSTRY SOCIAL PROGRAMMES INDUSTRY EVENTS Companies may not arrange Social Events that coincide with either the scientific programme, the Opening Ceremony or Welcome Reception / Closing Ceremony. Transportation to social events must not be organised at times coinciding with the official programme (including the Industry Sponsored Symposia). No activities are to be scheduled that would take delegates away from the Congress Venue. All sponsorship and exhibition must adhere to CME guidelines. 24 TECHNICAL EXHIBITION LOCATION The exhibition will take place in hall D2 at COEX which will form the hub of the congress. This provides an excellent opportunity for delegates to interact with the industry and familiarise themselves with the latest advances in technology, pharmacology as well as publishing houses. Delegates increasingly welcome the opportunity to tap into the expertise provided by exhibitors to answer questions and provide hands-on product demonstration.
