3 The Aquabox Story Aquabox literally began over a cup of coffee! In 1990 members of the Rotary Club of Wirksworth, UK were discussing a better way of providing emergency aid to disaster areas. The idea was to combine a robust box with water purification equipment and other emergency supplies and so Aquabox was born. It was officially launched in October 1992 by His Grace the Duke of Devonshire at Chatsworth House UK and is an official project of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland, managed by its initiators. Each Aquabox contains sufficient water purification equipment to supply a family with clean water for about 4 months, in addition to humanitarian aid in the form of eating and drinking equipment, water containers, tools, blankets and other basic equipment. Since 1992 over 85,000 Aquaboxes have been distributed to disaster areas around the world, providing in excess of 417,000,000 litres of clean drinking water. Aquabox (Australia) began through the Rotary Club of Eltham, Australia in 2001 and since that time boxes have been distributed from Australia to disasters in Nepal, Iraq, Cambodia, East Timor, PNG, Niue, Chad, Bangladesh, Colombo and Sri Lanka. In February 2009 AQUABOXES were distributed, for the first time within Australia, to victims of the Victoria bushfire disaster. Aquabox (Australia) have revamped the contents of Aquabox Gold to suit conditions in the Region and are focussed on distributing these and the Aquabox 30. 5 Restaurants in our area to support Looking for a great place to have dinner. Why not support these Restaurants that support our club activities. It will make it easier also the next time we ask them for assistance. Over the next few months we will feature those Restaurants that participated in our Great Restaurant Raffle. Enjoy China Max Essendon North VIC 3041 Phone (03) This local Chinese offers all the traditional favourites one expects from its genre, including the ubiquitous fish tank. Omni Restaurant 349 Keilor Rd Essendon 3040 VIC Phone: (03) Omni serves up authentic Spanish and Italian cuisine in an intimate and romantic setting. Inside is a melange of velvety dark chocolate seating, crisp white linen cloths and candlelit tables. Outside a tranquil courtyard features olive and lemon trees and a bubbling water feature. The menu changes weekly, with the option of sharing tapas or ordering individual meals. The Moroccan spiced lamb shanks served with sweet potato mash is a good choice from the dinner menu, while the draw card from the entree selection is the king prawns; a staple and popular meal is the seafood paella. The dishes are well-priced and the place usually fills up with couples on the weekends, so if you want to impress on that first date we recommend booking in advance. Prevale Restaurant Level Ground, 236 Union Rd Ascot Vale VIC 3032 Phone (03) The food is awesome and the service is outstanding. They are great with children and babies, not just in the way they accommodate them but the kids menu is just as awesome as the adults menu. Best of all: they're great for family, great for a romantic dinner, and fabulous for a girls night out! (or a real mums night out!)

Up and Coming Events Birthdays John Chadderton 70Y Anniversaries Glen Smith 5Y Three surgeons and a clumsy cook go camping in the remote wilderness. The clumsy cook stumbles over the campfire as he is serving the surgeons, injuring himself and dumping hot stew on the hands of the surgeons. The cook's injuries need surgical treatment. The surgeons' injuries are minor but open. It turns out they brought the equipment necessary for the cook's surgery with them, and they can use the campfire to sterilize the tools. But there are only two rubber gloves. Because of the different surgeons' skills, all three of the surgeons are needed to operate on the cook, in sequence. How can this be done without any of them being exposed to the blood of any of the others?
