Welcome to Manchester Airport With an affluent catchment of 22.4 million people within a two-hour drive time, Manchester Airport really is a superb location from which to grow new routes. We are the UK s largest airport outside of London and in 2018 we exceeded 28 million passengers an all-time record. We are now the 19th largest airport in Europe, and are 12th in the world for the number of different destinations served. We ve been very busy in terms of new routes and carriers. In 2018 we will welcome two new airlines to Manchester Airport. Jet Airways with direct flights to Mumbai and Ethiopian Airlines with flights to Addis Ababa with connections throughout Africa. New routes launched for 2018 include Seattle with Thomas Cook Airlines, Cagliari, Palermo and Ponta Delgado with Ryanair, Orkney, Shetland and Stornoway with Loganair and Florence with BA CityFlyer. We now offer 220 routes from Manchester Airport with over 70 airlines with exciting new routes for 2019 including Los Angeles with Virgin Atlantic and Bordeaux with Easyjet. On the back of our new routes and carriers, I am delighted to say that in 2018 we were awarded UKs Best Airport by the four largest travel trade publications in the UK. We are very proud of this and appreciate all the support we receive. Manchester Airport continues with its 1 billion transformation programme - a series of terminal and airfield enhancements which will enable us to deliver 55 million passengers a year. This will include an array of state of the art facilities for both passengers and airlines - ensuring that the airport continues to thrive as a national asset and play an even greater role as the UK s global gateway in the North. 8 14 1bn TERMINAL AND AIRFIELD TRANSFORMATION PROGRAMME 15 Increased seating for passengers Innovation and technology to improve airline processes Transforming Manchester Airport Manchester Airport s 1bn Transformation Programme (MAN- TP) will transform the airport to provide a world class operation, with significant enhancements to current facilities and major improvements to the customer experience. The programme is a series of enhancements that will provide the millions of passengers that use the airport every year with facilities that combine a contemporary look and feel with state-of-theart services. The 1bn investment will enable us to deliver 55 million passengers a year. The Transformation Programme will adopt a phased approach to implement the improvements, to ensure minimal disruption to our airport operations, passengers and airlines. THESE INCLUDE: The expansion and reconfiguring of Terminal 2, to become the airport s primary terminal building The introduction of new and enlarged airside transfer facilities, including the direct linkage between Terminals 2 and 3 Introduction of the latest technology in two new security halls that will screen more passengers, quicker The introduction of a host of new customer friendly enhancements, including self-service check-in facilities and around 50 food and beverage and retail outlets Creation of a dual code E taxiway to enhance operational efficiency The introduction of new stands and piers, offering better departure gate facilities Improved surface access road system making it easier for customers to come to and from our airport An operational airport environment that provides greater flexibility and resilience to cater to evolving airline and security needs Improvement of Terminal 3 to cater for increased demand and an expanding flight schedule State of the art retail environment 1bn Investment 50 food, beverage and retail outlets Latest technology in two new security halls
