Holywell Town Centre is home to a range of independent shops and other local businesses as well as some well known High Street names. This guide showcases the array of goods and services you can find here and we hope it will encourage you to rediscover your local High Street. For those wanting to take a stroll or enjoy some green space whilst in town, Fron Park is just a short walk from the Town Centre, best accessed via the attractive and historic Panton Place. If looking for a longer walk the Greenfield Valley Heritage Park is also easily accessible from the town centre. You can soon be in the park via the old railway bridge which is just beyond the Tower Gardens underpass. 02

He chose Shrewsbury as his starting point because this was the place where the bones of St Winefride were being kept. He then visited St Winefride s Well at Maesbury (south of Oswestry). The well is reputed to have sprung up when the cortege carrying her bones to Shrewsbury stopped. He then continued to St Winefride s Well in Holywell. This Pilgrimage is being re-enacted during the period 18th to 25th June this year. We are appealing for a small group of vounteers to take part in this re-enactment. The King and fellow pilgrims will have a special welcome into Holywell High Street on Sat June 25th during a big Medieval Festival - now in preparation - to celebrate the event. 13 TOWN CENTRE EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES Holywell Walking Festival 2016 Sat 3rd September will see the return of the Well Inn Music Festival to Holywell Town Centre. Now in its 6th year, this free one day music festival with loads of music and fun for the whole family provides a wide range of music across four different stages, showcasing a great mix of local talent. Music starts from 11am, and goes on until approx. 7pm. This year we will be having 2 headline acts to open and close the event. The main stage will again be located in Tower Gardens, and plays host to a fantastic range of local bands performing their own songs or well known covers. The other 3 stages located at the Town Hall, Victoria Square and Cross Street will see originals, folk, acoustic and contemporary performances from a talented bunch of local singer songwriters and duo s etc. Music will play on all stages throughout the day, along with fun fairground rides, children s activities and craft stalls. You can check out details on all this year s performers at Cllr Ted Palmer, from Holywell Town Now firmly established in the local calendar and attracting a growing number of visitors the Holywell Walking Festival takes place over an extended period in 2016 from 11th to 17th July. More than 20 organised walks culminate in the final day s Delyn Walks Challenge, with two walks over 10k and 20k on that day. The daily walks vary in distance and duration providing a fantastic variety of scenery and all accompanied by local experts, giving some fascinating insights into the local history. There s something for all ages and abilities, so there s every reason to join in! The whole programme of Holywell Events is important to bring much needed footfall into the town centre and to raise the profile of Holywell. 14 BUSINESS LISTINGS - TOWN CENTRE EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES Holywell Heritage Trail The Holywell Heritage Trail tells the story of St Winefride, her Holy Well and how the town of Holywell grew and prospered. The idea for the Trail came from St Beuno s Walk Group, now part of Transition Holywell and District, as a way of encouraging people to explore the town and the nearby attractions of St Winefride s Well and Greenfield Valley. The longer route is 2½ miles and goes up past the Holway Level where there are lovely views over the Dee Estuary. Various footpath improvements have been carried out as part of the project including a new path up to the natural hollow of St Beuno s Well. The Trail starts in the High Street at The Miracle, a sculpture by Michael Johnson that rises from the ground like a spring and celebrates the lives of St Winefride and St Beuno. The Trail goes down through the Memorial Gardens to Bank Place, one of several streets leading from the High Street and home to the first bank in Holywell. It follows the line of the old railway through the Valley. From here it is just a short walk to the ruins of Basingwerk Abbey and Greenfield Farm and Museum, but the Heritage Trail heads back towards St Winefride s Well. From here you can head back into town or take the longer route past the Holway Level.
