Glasgow is a compact city and transport options are plentiful. Glasgow is within an hour s drive of three international airports, with Glasgow Airport only 15 minutes from the city centre. Rail and motorway links are also extensive and commuter/passenger services are frequent, reliable and well maintained. An ongoing programme of investment in the transport infrastructure ensures that Glasgow is a connected city. Projects such as an extensive development and major expansion at Glasgow Airport and several motorway and rail line improvements are either underway or recently completed. Glasgow s unique underground system and its network of suburban railway stations are also being fully refurbished. BUSES Glasgow city centre is well served by bus operators running over 170 services in Glasgow and to surrounding areas. There are around 1,000 buses serving these routes. There are frequent bus services to and from Glasgow International Airport and the journey only takes 15 minutes. TRAINS Glasgow is home to the UK s largest suburban commuter rail system outside London. It has two rail stations in the heart of the city centre. SUBWAY Glasgow s subway system is the third oldest in the world after London and Budapest. It is currently undergoing a 300 million refurbishment and modernisation. The subway has 15 stations, all fully Wi-Fi enabled, offering easy access to the city centre and west end with trains running every five minutes at peak times. It only takes 24 minutes to complete the full circuit. AIR Glasgow Airport is 15 minutes from the city centre. ROAD Scotland offers a modern and comprehensive road network with less traffic densities than other parts of the UK. With four main motorways, Glasgow is the hub of Scotland s road system: The M8 runs through the city centre and connects with Edinburgh and Glasgow Airport. It also provides access to north, south, east and west of Scotland. The upgraded M74 has reduced journey times across Glasgow and connects directly onto the M6 to the south.
