ADMINISTRATOR COMMENTS: COMMITTEE/COUNCIL ACTION: Motion to approve the minutes of the January 11, 2016 Public Works Committee meeting.
3 MINUTES PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE JANUARY 11, 2016 The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Mel Schaefer at 5:00 p.m. Members present were Matt Quade, Neil Herzberg, and Dave Peschong. Keith Hemmesch was absent. Advisory members present were Ron Mergen, Public Works Director and Chuck DeWolf, Bolton & Menk, Inc. Motion was made by Peschong to approve the minutes from the December 14, 2015 Public Works Committee meeting. Seconded by Quade and unanimously carried. ELECTION OF OFFICERS Motion was made by Peschong to appoint Schaefer as Chair, Hemmesch as Vice Chair, and Mergen as Secretary. Seconded by Quade and unanimously carried. MEETING SCHEDULE Motion was made by Herzberg to set the meeting schedule for the second Monday of each month at 5:00 p.m. Seconded by Peschong and unanimously carried STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT DeWolf reviewed the design for the 2016 Street Improvement Project including: Replacement of water and sewer on Minnie St. Water across the river with this project Repair the sanitary sewer issue on Washburne Ave. The storm sewer lay out The area which the City can service with storm sewer Updated cost estimate The street width was questioned. DeWolf stated the street will be 40 feet wide Also discussed was the grant for the pond which DeWolf informed members that the City did not receive the grant. Members all concurred that the project needs to move forward and the City should move ahead with the land purchase. The option to purchase is $33, Motion was made by Peschong to approve the plans and specifications and advertise for bids and recommend such to the City Council. Seconded by Quade and unanimously carried. Motion was made by Quade to exercise the option to purchase the property from Savage Land Partnership for the regional storm water pond in the amount of $33, and recommend such to the City Council. Seconded by Peschong and unanimously carried.
4 CIP 2017 PROJECT The updated CIP was presented to the Committee noting Lake Ave. and Hwy. 23 to the Crow river bridge has been added to the 2017 Project. Hudson St. from Second St. to Hudson Dr. and Belmont St. from Business 23 north past the GUM Church have been removed from the 2017 Project. WATER PLANT MPCA UPDATE DeWolf reported that Bolton & Menk is working on the option and when complete Bolton & Menk will need to run a pilot plant and then move to the design stage to keep the project on schedule. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:25 p.m.
