140 Report to Forest Preserve Committee Name of Park Illiniwek For the Month of September 2018 Grounds Maintenance Staff continues to mow weekly. Staff cleaned burn rings on campsites, weed-eated as needed, and sprayed about 1.5 acres on south side of highway 84 in preparation for prairie planting this fall. Seed was donated by Fish and Wildlife Service. Staff worked on grading and seeding work at Dorrance and also removed 3 more utility poles that were no longer being used because of the new lights. Lights on diamond 1 and 2 are working great. Mid Am has not made electrical connections on the diamond 3 transformer, so the lights on diamond 3 have not been turned on, yet. Building Maintenance Projects Performed Staff continues to clean the shower buildings and public restroom on a daily basis. The electrical service to the pump house in the orchard was upgraded to code and the electrical panel inside was also updated along with all the wiring in the pump house. Equipment repairs and/or projects performed The 1600 WAM is still at Holland and Sons. They are having difficulty diagnosing the problem. The 1570 front deck mower that that was repaired last month needs to go back to the shop. The front right tire spins out of control and creates tire marks everywhere especially when turning. Holland and sons let us borrow a mower for 2 weeks so we could get all the mowing done. Trails/Course/General facility conditions Trails are in great shape but have been closed often due to wet weather. FORC continues to work on phase III of the trail construction at Dorrance. They are getting very close to completing phase III. Vandalism report- No vandalism to report Incidents Police were called to investigate a possible abuse case. Case is still open and continues to be investigated. Accidents reports No accidents. Weather conditions Seasonal Activities/Events/Outings held at park The 3 rd annual Tipi gathering had about 650 people attend which included 175 students on Friday. The wet weather probably kept some folks away but still a great turnout. Items to be bid by Purchasing No items to be bid. Upcoming Activities The 3 rd annual Fall Festival (formerly Halloween at Illiniwek) is scheduled for October 20th. Misc. Black Hawk College building trades program poured a new sidewalk and small patio at the Illiniwek playground. The patio is large enough for 2 picnic tables. They are hoping to get the parking lot poured this fall as well. The Wi-Fi in the campground was upgraded with new equipment increasing the number of people that could access the Wi-Fi and expanding the range of accessibility. On an average weekend there is around 175 to 200 people using the Wi-Fi in the campground. This report was prepared by: Mike Petersen Date
