Registration packets for KEHA state meeting are available in the front office of the extension office. I would like to thank Teresa Arn and the Mayslick Night Owls for all of their work on International Night! During the month of March, I taught a class on slow cookers for Farm and Family Night at MCTC, 47 people attended my class! I taught the Live, Laugh, and Learn Playdate where we read Count On Pablo and had homemade salsa as our snack to go along with the book! Planning for the health fair at the hospital and also a youth health fair at the high school started this month. I met with the other Licking River Area agents to plan the leader lessons for next year. Kendyl Whaley, FCS Agent for Menifee County, came and taught the leader lesson on Economical Entrees. I traveled to Louisville to judge STAR events at the FCCLA State Meeting. I taught Cooking Through The Calendar where we learned to make Amazing Pancakes and discussed the nutritional and economic benefits of that recipe. I participated in Project Operation Preparation at the high school and taught a lesson on healthy snacks for Girl s Night In for 5 th graders. I taught a lesson on My Plate at the Health and Safety Fair for the middle school and judged speeches at the intermediate school. 2 Recipe Corner Asparagus is in season from April through May in Kentucky. Choose bright green stalks with tightly closed tips. Fresh asparagus will keep for 1 week in the fridge. Store upright with cut ends in water or wrapped in wet paper towels in a plastic bag. Remember to buy Kentucky Proud products at your local grocery store or farmers market!

3 Important Dates to Remember Monday, April 3: The ABC s of Diabetes will take place at the Mason County Extension Office from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Wednesday, April 5: Keys to Great Parenting is cancelled due to District Board and County Extension Council meetings. Monday, April 10: The ABC s of Diabetes will take place at the Mason County Extension Office from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. BTDHD will be doing blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol checks at 12:30 pm. Thursday, April 13: Live, Laugh, and Learn Playdate will take place at the Mason County Extension Office from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. Monday, April 17: The ABC s of Diabetes will take place at the Mason County Extension Office from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Tuesday, April 18: Cooking through the Calendar will take place at the Mason County Extension Office from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. We will be making and sampling 10-Minute Bean Soup. Tuesday, April 18: Volunteers are needed for the Blue Ribbon Kids Fest. It will take place at MCTC from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Contact Goldie Dunaway to volunteer and for more information. Tuesday, April 18: The gardening leader lesson for May will take place at the Mason County Extension Office from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm. Tuesday, April 25: Volunteers are needed for the Baby Gala. It will take place at MCTC. Volunteers need to be there at 4:15 pm. Contact Goldie Dunaway to volunteer. Saturday, April 29: Volunteers are needed for the health fair. It will take place at Meadowview Regional Medical Center from 7:30 am until 11:30 am. Contact Brenda Williams to volunteer.
