The holidays are a great time to spend time with family and friends. Don t forget our office will be closed from December 23 rd until January 1 st. We will reopen on January 2 nd, During November, the last Make It, Take It, Try It of the year took place. Stay tuned in the spring for more sessions. The Licking River Area FCS Agents met to work on a few things for the upcoming year. Tara and I went to the intermediate school and taught the entire fourth grade how to make breads. I helped with the scholarship bazaar. Mason County hosted the Licking River Area Homemaker Council meeting. Cooking Through the Calendar was held and we prepared and sampled Apple Nachos. In partnership with the Mason County Public Library, we held a program for children called Cooking the Books. I ended the month attending the state meeting for the Kentucky Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. 2 Recipe Corner Tomatoes are in season from July through October in Kentucky. They are rich in nutrients like fiber and vitamins A and C. Store at room temperature and use within 3 days. Keep out of direct sunlight. Remember to buy Kentucky Proud products at your local grocery store or farmers market!

3 Important Dates to Remember Thursday, May 11: Live, Laugh, and Learn Playdate will take place at the Mason Friday, County December Extension 8: A trip Office to Louisville from for the Christmas Décor Show will take place. The van will leave the office at 7:30 am and return late 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. in the day. Spaces are limited, call the office to sign up. Thursday, December 14: The leader lesson for January, Educate Before You Medicate will take place from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the Mason County Monday, December 18: Cooking the Books will take place from 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm at the Mason County Public Library. This program is for children under the age of 10. Tuesday, December 19: Cooking Through The Calendar will take place from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Mason County We will be making and sampling Cheesy Spinach Rice. Tuesday, January 2: An educational day camp for children on safety will be held from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Mason County Please call to sign up. Thursday, January 11: What s In My Kitchen? will take place from 2:30 pm until 4:30 pm at the Mason County January s topic is slow cookers. Tuesday, January 16: Cooking Through The Calendar will take place at the Mason County Two sessions are being offered from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Thursday, December 14: The leader lesson for January, Educate Before You Medicate will take place from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the Mason County
