5 STANLEY & DISTRICT PUBLIC HALL The Main Hall and Stage has been completely re-decorated recently and new soft furnishings provided. This has seen the completion of a major upgrading which commenced last year with the new roof. Further work planned for this year will see an upgrading of the electrical installation. This continued investment in this long established community facility over the past 4/5 years has made this a more attractive and user friendly building for our current users and hopefully more groups and individuals will be encouraged to make this a regular venue for Meetings and Activities. Increasing the frequency of usage will allow the Committee to continue to invest in improving the building for the community s benefit. Like all Groups we are always looking for fresh blood to assist and we would be pleased to hear from anyone in the community who would be interested in joining The Hall Committee or becoming a Hall Trustee. Please contact either of the following - Stanley Middleton (Trustee) Robert Baldie (Treasurer) or Angela Hutton (Secretary) PLEASE GIVE US YOUR SUPPORT TO DEVELOP THE VILLAGE HALL HIRE CHARGES: Main Hall 1Hr 15/hr 2Hrs 24 3Hrs = 11/Hr Meeting Room 1Hr 10 2 Hrs+ - 9/Hr Supplementary Kitchen 2 Evening Function 15 Daily Rate 8 Hrs 10/Hr Bookings to: Sam Kelly, Tel: E Mail: samk_20155@hotmail.com Keyholders: Stanley Middleton

8 SCOTTISH MEN S SHEDS ASSOCATION The Scottish Men s Sheds Association was founded in 2009 by a few people in the NE of Scotland who had a dream and actively started making it a reality. One village and one shed at a time, several years on and there are many sheds throughout Scotland. Is this a dream that you would want to be involved in within Stanley? I believe there is an aspiration for Stanley to have a Men s shed and am looking for like-minded people to help make this a reality for our community. Do you have time on your hands, want to meet other like-minded individuals? It needn t be just for older men, but available to all from the age of 18 upwards. There is a great deal of talent out there and I would like to see it tapped for the benefit of its members and the community as a whole. We still need to find premises in which to meet but initial enquiries have started. It won t be easy and will take time but with your help we can make it happen. If you are interested, please contact me to register your interest. Alex Cockburn Tel: Scottish Men s Sheds Association is a charity registered in Scotland. No: SC045139
9 DO YOU USE FUEL OIL TO HEAT YOUR HOME? Read on: If you buy Fuel Oil to heat your home you could by ordering through Development Trusts Association Oil Buying scheme obtain favourable rates and for every Litre purchased allow the community to benefit. Every Litre bought through the DTAS scheme will give 0.01p back to the community. For example: If 1000 Litres of Heating Oil costs 34.0ppl (pence per litre) (ex VAT). This means you will pay (ex VAT) for this fuel, of this Stanley Development Trust(SDT) will receive a commission of 0.01 ppl ie. In this example 1. Almost every domestic oil buyer in the UK purchases litres of Heating Oil every year. If for example 5000 Litre (a year) oil buyer in your area used our website to purchase all of their fuel, the trust would make 5 every year from that oil buyer. If 10 oil buyers buy 5000 Litre a year the trust would make 50 a yea A Reminder of the key benefits to the end user DEVELOPMENT TRUSTS ASSOCIATION Our service will allow the end users to purchase fuel online (or over the phone) We have negotiated fantastic prices with local deliver partners there are 2 in this area, this means the price that you pay is even better! If you currently buy fuel in a traditional buying group, using our service means that you do not have to wait until the group want to purchase their oil. You get a group buying price but have the control over your own ordering a big advantage compared to the larger oil buying group. Local DTAS Rep: David Trevallion, David Trevallion
