7 Promotion Through Lancaster District Libraries Mobile Library Services As well as the 6 branches, Lancaster District libraries also operate 2 mobiles services. These cater to our rural and isolated communities. We can promote other agencies/organisations via the mobiles; contact Di Baxter for more information about the mobile routes and for promotional opportunities () Home Library Service We also run a Home Library Service. This can be used by anyone unable to get into the library; WRVS volunteers deliver a service to peoples' homes. This service is provided to all customers who are unable by reason of age, disability or infirmity, to get to a Library building and who cannot make satisfactory arrangements for library books to be changed by either relatives or friends. Whilst some customers may use this service in the long term, others can utilise the service in the short term (e.g. if someone is recuperating at home after an operation) The basis of the service offered will be the loan of books and audio visual material and a request service. These services are free to the customer. The library service is constantly on the lookout for volunteers to help us with this service, but also for any clients who may wish to sign up to use the Home Library Service. Anyone wishing to sign up or wanting more information should contact Glenys Knowles at Morecambe Library: or glenys.knowles@lancashire.gov.uk. 7 It is also possible for us to deliver information for relevant groups/agencies/organisations to our Home Library clients. Plasma Screens There are 2 screens at Lancaster library and 1 each at Carnforth, Heysham and Silverdale libraries. Morecambe library uses a large screen monitor attached to a service pod. These screens can be used to promote local groups, organisations, events and activities. There is no charge for this service. Anything that is for display on the screens should be sent to sarah.rogan@lancashire.gov.uk Ideally we require anything to be sent through in landscape format rather than portrait. We can accept anything sent through in jpeg, pdf or PowerPoint slide formats. Ideally we suggest you use no smaller than size 28 font for the main body of text. Unlike a poster all you need are the basic details: who, what, when and where, and how to find out more. For more information, or for feedback on anything sent in, please contact Sarah. Drop In Sessions in the Libraries All of the libraries in Lancaster District are happy to host drop-in sessions in their libraries. Please either contact the individual branch managers and/or Di Baxter for more information.
