The acceptance of the minutes was proposed by Gary Pender and seconded by Frances Ratcliffe. 3 Report of the committee for session The Chairman summarised the achievements made by ICE Scotland in the past year. These were outlined in the annual report which was made available online prior to the meeting. The key points raised are included below: A number of knowledge campaigns have been run throughout the year such as, procurement, infrastructure and urbanisation, as well as education and inspiration events. There has been a particular focus on diversity and the next generation. Congratulations to Amey s team at the Forth Road Bridge on winning the Saltire Award State of the Nation Infrastructure was launched with an Infrastructure Manifesto in the run up to the election, highlighting the importance of infrastructure is an economic enabler. More than 70 Knowledge events were organised by 1
3 Branches & SIGS through the year with over 3,000 attending in person and 550 attending on line. The Chair highlighted a visit to Iona arranged by G&WoS Branch to present a certificate to Iona Parish Church which was one of the Highland Churches designed by Thomas Telford. The visit also included a bridge building competition with primary pupils on the island. There has been significant media interest in the ICE this year following closure of the Forth Road Bridge and the rescheduled opening date of the iconic Queensferry Crossing as well as severe flooding in several areas across Scotland. The Chairman reinforced the need for resilient infrastructure. 4 Finance Report Honorary Treasurer, Shaun Nesbitt, presented his report for the year ended 31st December 2015, which was circulated online prior to the meeting. Shaun noted that expenditure was slightly under what we had budgeted; however under use was much less than for previous years. Approximately 70,000 is held by Branches & SIGs inside ICE Scotland. The report was accepted by the meeting there being no queries. 5 Committee for session Prior to detailing the new committee, the Chairman thanked members of the committee for their help and support during the year: Ronnie Hunter for his work on the public voice. Emily Sweeney of Jacobs will be taking over the Honorary Secretary role for the coming year. The Chairman went on to thank Branch representatives for helping take ICE Scotland forward. Special thanks to Sara Thiam, Lynn Dow and Kelly Forbes of the RST for their assistance throughout the year. 4 report. 7 Handover to Frances Ratcliffe, Incoming Chairman The Chairman then handed over the badge of office to Frances Ratcliffe, the incoming Chairman, and wished her well for the coming year.
