The Varsity Lunch provided Fernbank Museum of Natural History, the largest museum of natural sciences in the Southeast, this architecturally stunning facility boasts 65 acres of pristine forest. Come face-to-face with the world's largest dinosaurs, explore the development of life. Return to the hotel to clean up a bit Dinner at Mary Macs (Southern style restaurant) Atlanta Symphony - Evening performance of Britten s War Requiem Picture of band in lobby at Symphony Hall 12:00 PM - Lights out
5 Agenda Day 3 Day 3 Friday, April 25th 6:30AM - Full Breakfast at the hotel Inside CNN Studio Tour where you ll get a firsthand look at how the news is gathered, written and reported by the inventors of 24-hour news. Georgia Aquarium. This world s largest aquarium covers 9 ½ acres and is home to tens of thousands of animals including 500 species around the world. Lunch at aquarium ($30 given for lunch/dinner) Visit World of Coca-Cola: This 75,000 sq ft facility houses a massive collection of memorabilia along with numerous interactive displays, high-tech exhibits, an art gallery and video presentations. Atlanta Braves vs Cincinnati Reds Baseball Game Dinner at game 11:30PM - Lights out
6 Agenda Day 4 Day 4 Saturday, April 26th 7:30 AM - Full breakfast in the hotel Dixie Classic Festival with concert performance and Awards Ceremony. Lunch will be a $10 cash allotment Medieval Times to enjoy a rousing, two-hour live jousting tournament complete with awe-inspiring horsemanship and falconry and feast on a four-course meal. 10 Uniform Turn In Procedures BAND Bring Garment Bag with name on the outside to chorus hallway to be checked in NO SMALL METAL HANGERS PLEASE!!! No garment bag needed for Seniors not in SW or WE Inside Garment Bag for Band for SW: Bib Pants washed and on a hanger, follow washing instructions on pants label Pick up jacket from rack and put inside as well and then check in 1 pair of Black Socks (long black socks and very black) 1 Black t-shirt or black section shirt. We will be wearing your N shirt at park all day so you probably want a different one for Dixie Classic day. Black Band Shoes Inside Garment Bag for Band for WE: Tux/Dress White shirt, Bow Tie, Cummerbund, Studs Men - 1 pair of Black Socks (long and black), Women - hose Black Band/Dress Shoes/Dress shoes for girls in plastic bag please to prevent dirt transfer
11 Luggage and Instrument Check In Grueninger Name Tag on Each Instrument Mr. Carnahan to issue We will have a large black case for small woodwinds for those that would like to put them in there or you may also put in your own luggage Make sure Grueninger tag is on all cases, even those small woodwinds you are putting on bus 1 piece of luggage for under bus Name Tag on luggage as well We will give you this tonight when you turn in your contact form
12 Departure Day - Students Call Time for Students WE to lunch and then back to bandroom SW/Seniors to bandroom after 5 th period to help load luggage under busses All to NHS Auditorium after the above is complete Roll-call for students in auditorium at 12:00 noon Sit by room groups with assigned Room Group Chaperone Will give lanyard at that time Has pocket itinerary, dress code for each day, all chaperone cell phone numbers, your room group, and room group chaperone cell phone number on it
13 Current Weather Predictions Make sure to have a light jacket/hoodie.
14 Dress Overall No tank tops, or flip-flops at any time outside of the hotel Exception to flip flops/sandals is Sunday for Park Day and ride home Everyone should bring a light jacket or hoodie in case it is cool in the morning or at late night event like ball game Please Note: All clothing must be school approved as outlined in the student handbook NO SHORT SHORTS LADIES!!! You will be asked to go change No tank-tops, or flip-flops of any kind outside of hotel except for flip flops on Sunday All dresses or blouses must have at least 1 straps. If not, must be covered with a shrug or sweater You are representing Niceville High School WHEN IN DOUBT, DON T PACK IT!
15 What to Wear Each Day Uniform of the Day 04/23 Wednesday - TRAVEL DAY School appropriate attire, comfortable closed toed shoes. No flip flops. Bring blanket, jacket, or hoodie for bus ride as it is kept cool on the bus to avoid car sickness. Bring headsets, music, or something to block out movie volume if you don t want to watch them. This includes Chaperones. 04/24 - Thursday Zoo, Museum, Symphony Day time: Jeans/shorts, tennis shoes, hoodie NO Flip-flops School Appropriate Symphony Dress (we will be returning to hotel to change) Boys: Dress slacks/dockers, belt, dress shirt/tie, dress shoes (use Bandos or Tux shoes if you have no other dress shoes) Girls: Dress slacks with blouse or Dress, dress shoes NO JEANS! NO ATHLETIC TYPE SHOES OF ANY TYPE/BRAND!

17 Clothes to Pack Pack in Suitcase 1 black Horn N- t-shirt save for last day to wear at park and to home Maroon Travel Shirt or Color Guard Travel Shirt for Friday 2 pair of jeans 1 pair khaki pants or you can use same dress pants as below 2 additional t-shirts/casual shirts Hoodie/sweatshirt/light jacket 1 Pair dress shoes (if you don t have any, then you can use Bandos from garment bag) Boys: Dress pants, tie, button down dress shirt, belt Girls: Dress, dress slacks/skirt and blouse Sweats or gym shorts for hotel/night use 2 pair Underwear/socks 5 pair each Toiletries (Deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, etc ) No need to bring hairdryer
18 Other Items to Pack Send Students with their own Band Aids, Kleenex, and Feminine Products Toiletries and Personal Hygiene Items Sun screen Sunglasses Saline Drops Cell Phone Charger (labeled with your name) May want to send shampoo and conditioner hotel supply may be a bit skimpy for 4 students trying to take showers
19 Carry On Small Backpack What to Carry On Bus Backpack sized carry-on, no roll-a-boards Yes Yes Yes, but we will make fun of you all week! Spending Money (2 dinners, snacks at Hotel and Parks, Souvenirs - $40 for food should be sufficient + spending money if you desire) Cell Phone Head phones if you do not want to listen to movies on the bus. It is difficult to turn them down so everyone can hear, so bring your own music or something else to block that out if you don t want to watch Blanket, hoodie or something to keep warm as we keep the busses cool Homework or other entertainment to keep you occupied
20 Lanyards Wear them anytime you are out of your hotel room They have all your information You will also have a pocket sized itinerary Report times Dress code for each day All chaperone cell phone numbers At park, carry them in your pocket without lanyard or put lanyard inside shirt as they will blow off on coasters Bus Room Group Room Chaperone Name Chaperone Cell

22 Life On The Road The Hotel Room Keys Room captains will get them and give them to you Make sure you keep it in your wallet and take with you at all times Don t put your key in pocket with cell phone If you need extra towels or are missing something in your room Notify your room chaperone Do not call the front desk Do not try to order movies or room service Do not call anyone to have food delivered to your room at any time If for any reason there are bottles of water in your room DO NOT DRINK THEM YOU WILL BE CHARGED A LOT! Getting Up You need to stagger in the morning or take a couple of showers at night Couple to breakfast, couple taking showers early breakfast can then come back up and take showers, late breakfast- dress and bring your stuff with you and be prepared to leave from downstairs
23 Life on the road Be on time for all departures (actually be a bit early) Other times (like at museums, parks, zoo, etc...) you must always be in groups of at least 3 and one of you must have a cell phone! You will be given a time/place to report back YOU MUST BE BACK ON TIME!! OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE WITH A CHAPERONE FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP (AND NO ONE WANTS THAT!!!) Bus behavior No PDA One blanket per one person, no sharing across seats Be on time at rest stops No open containers, all snacks and beverages must be resealable Cell Phones Charged every night NOT ON VIBRATE DURING THE DAY!
24 Ahhh the smell of Axe, potato chips, and dirty clothes in the morning Your rooms should not look like your rooms at home please There are 4 of you that have to live in a very small space for 5 days be considerate Dirty clothes all in one pile for each person, use bottom of closet for a couple of people Use drawers to put your clean clothes in for at least 3 of you and then use your suitcases for dirty clothes. Don t leave anything on the beds when you leave so the attendants can change and remake them Bring toiletry bag to keep your stuff in, not room for 4 people s stuff on sink DO SHOWER EVERY DAY NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Maybe 2 at night and 2 in the morning Short showers Mornings are rushed Lights out means TVs off too, cell phones away and charging You need some sleep to be able to keep up with the schedule we have Security guards will be on the floors throughout the evening for your protection. DO NOT LEAVE ROOMS AFTER ROOM CHECK!
25 Meals (1) Breakfasts include lots of choices, both hot and cold It s early, but you must eat something! 28 Tips While In Atlanta You are not in Niceville any more... Atlanta is a big city Gentlemen: Carry your wallets in your front pockets Ladies: Keep your purses strapped around and in front Use the bathrooms any place we have a chance Before we leave hotel Lunch restaurants Dinner restaurants Museums
29 Tips for not getting sick Lots of long days, lots of walking DO Eat at every meal Drink at every meal and drink plenty of water throughout the day Many of the times we have had a problem with someone being sick lack of eating and drinking is the cause of it Dress right If you have a problem with one of the meals, make sure to tell your chaperone so they can try to get something arranged for you YOU MUST EAT!!! DON T Energy drinks NO problems with hyper over-energized kids! Too many Starbucks! - The chocolate, iced mocha cappuccinos are not really coffee limit yourself
30 Student Medications Meds must be in original package Bring one week supply to luggage check-in (Tuesday night) and give to Sara Vazquez You can find Med Form on CHARMS Under Band Forms Medication Log Form (same one we used for Macy s) Do Not Send Vitamins Chaperones will carry student meds if they need to be taken during the day Exceptions: Inhalers, epi-pens, topical acne products, and birth control pills will be held by students Med Chair will carry Advil and Tylenol if needed and will have sheet indicating if it is OK to give to students Med Chair will make every attempt to give medication at night, but 50% of the responsibility of taking the meds is with the student students need to find Ms. Vazquez to take your meds each night she will be in her room to dispense meds Motion Sickness Pills Give Prior to Departure Pack Dose for Return Trip in Luggage
31 Band Travel Policies and Procedures What NOT to Take Game Systems no PS3 or X-BOX Drugs, Alcohol, Tobacco (Luggage will be screened for drugs, etc. with dogs in band room) DON T BE STUPID Pocket Knives Any electronic device you take is at your own risk! Chaperones/NHS Band are not responsible for anything that the kids bring with them For anything that makes noise Must use with headphones
32 Band Travel Policies and Procedures Family members in the Atlanta Area (below is for safety/security of kids) There are No Check Outs during the trip Exception If student is not returning to Niceville with the band, they can be checked out through pre-arranged times after concert HOWEVER there is no checking back in they will no longer be on the band trip Notarized Form should have already been turned in All of our dinners/breakfasts are in private dining rooms No one except the band can be with the band for dinners or breakfasts No family members will be permitted to be in the band meetings or on the student floors in the hotel at any time
