1 The Wind Ensemble is excited to represent Gahr High School at SCSBOA Festival and to explore San Diego! Please use this itinerary to help plan for the trip. FRIDAY, MAY 4, :45AM 7:00AM SCSBOA FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE, OLD TOWN, AND MOVIE! Call time at Gahr wearing black concert attire. Eat breakfast before you arrive. Load instruments, music, and luggage under bus. DO NOT FORGET ANYTHING YOU NEED FOR THE FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE. 7:30AM Depart for Eastlake Village Center (2244 Otay Lakes Rd, Chula Vista, CA 91915) 10:45AM Eat lunch at Eastlake Village Center. Not provided (bring ~$10). McDonald s, Arby s, Chipotle, Flame Broiler, L&L Hawaiian, Project Pie (Pizza) 11:45AM Depart for Eastlake High School (1120 Eastlake Pkwy, Chula Vista, CA 91915) 12:00PM Arrive at Eastlake High School and unload 12:30PM Warm up 1:00PM 1:30PM 2:00PM Performance (Ruth F. Chapman Performing Arts Theater) SCSBOA Clinic Group picture! Load instruments ASAP. 2:30PM Depart for Doubletree Hotel (1515 Hotel Circle South, San Diego, CA, 92108) 3:00PM Check-in to hotel rooms. Change ASAP to street clothes for rest of evening. 3:30PM Travel to Old Town San Diego Historic Park (4002 Wallace St, San Diego, CA 92110) 3:45PM Free time & shopping in Old Town San Diego 4:45PM 5:15PM GROUPS OF FOUR OR MORE. Main square only. You may not cross a street. Meet back in the middle of the main square (by the flagpole). Any friends or family that wish to see the movie with the group should purchase tickets online ASAP because it will sell out! Watch Avengers: Infinity War Load bus and return to Doubletree Hotel 10:00PM Free time in hotel. NO BOYS IN GIRLS ROOMS OR ON GIRLS HOTEL FLOOR. Eat anytime from 6:30AM to 7:30AM so you are packed and ready to leave by 8:30AM. Room check - Bags must be packed, room cleaned, and students will be dismissed as a group to load bus. 9:15AM Depart for SeaWorld San Diego (500 Sea World Dr, San Diego, CA 92109) 9:45AM Arrive and get tickets 10:00AM Free time at SeaWorld - GROUPS OF FOUR OR MORE Make sure you bring money for lunch (~$20) and souvenirs. 4:00PM 4:15PM Call time to meet by exit gate. 3 HOTEL PROCEDURES & BEHAVIOR GUIDELINES Trips are a special privilege earned by the students in the GHS Band Program. It is expected that students carry themselves in a way that demonstrates the best of our band program, our school, and our district. We want to make sure we maintain our incredible reputation! Here are the procedures that students will need to follow at ALL TIMES. No boys in girls rooms/floors; no girls in boys rooms/floors. You may use common areas in the hotel lobby during free time. When in buildings (especially at the theater, dinner and the hotel), students must maintain a quiet indoor voice and demeanor. Hotel phones and amenities (rental movies, bottled water for sale in room) are NOT to be used by students. Students MAY answer the phone if it rings, because it would be a chaperone calling or the hotel desk (wakeup call, etc). If students need something while at the hotel (toothbrush, extra blanket, etc.) they are to contact a chaperone who will help them. Hotel balconies sliding doors should remain shut at all times since we will be in rooms primarily during quiet hours. Follow instructions from Mr. Loney or any other trip chaperone AT ALL TIMES. Represent Gahr well and have a great time performing and enjoying San Diego with your friends! ***IMPORTANT*** While we do not anticipate any issues: Any students who are not following these rules may be asked to leave the trip at the parent s expense. Parents would need to meet us in San Diego and pick up their child immediately, and may affect student s ability to participate in end of year activities and future program trips. Any damage to the hotel, charges to the room, or damage caused to the bus by students will be charged to those student s families. Please make sure you are doing the right thing at ALL TIMES and we can continue to have great experiences for our program!! Parents may not take students away from our group during the trip. If a parent needs to take their student, they will need to be officially checked out from the trip with Mr. Loney and will not be able to rejoin the group.

4 SUGGESTED PACKING LIST Weather should be good this weekend in San Diego - highs of 75 and lows of 60. Bring a warm jacket because we ll be out in the evening for dinner and the movie. Please bring a small duffel or carry-on bag that will go under the bus. We re only going to be gone for two days. Lunch - At shopping center - NOT PROVIDED (bring approximately $10) Dinner - HomeTown Buffet (provided for students) Saturday Breakfast - At DoubleTree Hotel (provided for students) Lunch - At SeaWorld - NOT PROVIDED (bring approximately $20) Dinner - Stop at fast food restaurant on the way home - NOT PROVIDED (bring $10) STUDENT REMINDERS: Pack the night before. Lay out your black concert attire that you will be wearing on the bus Friday. Bring money for lunch on Friday and for lunch & dinner at Sea World on Saturday - between $ Bring extra spending money if you plan to shop in Old Town San Diego or buy souvenirs at Sea World. We will have a several hours of bus time. Bring homework or things to study.
