1 Invitation and Registration 2017 Riverlodge Balloon Meet 27 January 30 January 2017 The Waikato Hot Air Balloon Club have arranged for a Balloon Meet at The River Lodge (Reporoa) over the Auckland Anniversary weekend 27 th January 30 January 2017 This is a weekend where the emphasis is on flying and having fun. Everyone has to cover their own expenses. Riverlodge is a Christian Lodge and as such we will need to respect the virtues that they endorse. They are fully supportive of the Balloon Meet and have allowed us to Freedom Camp adjacent to the Lodge. It is hoped that we can combine flying with aquatic activities. There are also a lot of other activities close by for people to participate in. The River Lodge provides a stunning backdrop for a Saturday night glow. Riverlodge is situated on the Waikato River with dairy farm country to the north. It is approximately halfway between Taupo and Rotorua with access via Homestead and Halcrow Roads off State Highway 5. There is a boat ramp and reserve approximately 1km from Riverlodge and a jetty at Riverlodge where boats can be tied off. The Ramp at Riverlodge is only suitable for Kayaks and perhaps jetski access.

Freedom The River Lodge - $35 per night per site. There is one toilet and shower (co-located) and a small kitchenette. It is strongly recommended that each site provide their own portaloo. free phone phone fax Vaile Road, Reporoa, New Zealand Everyone is to make their own arrangements for accommodation, but for organisational purposes we do request that you let us know your intentions. Refuelling Refuelling has been confirmed at BP Tauhara who will provide propane enriched fuel. BP Tauhara is 20 minutes from River Lodge down Broadlands Rd. For the Saturday Night Glow we recommended that you have a spare inflation tank that you can use. Food This weekend is intended to be family friendly and as such there are a number of options available. PRE FLIGHT Tea, Coffee, Milo and a muffin will be available pre-flight at the morning briefing.

3 BREAKFAST A BYO breakfast will be held in the camping area. There will be BBQ facilities available as well as two microwaves. Tea, Coffee, Milo will be available. Alternatively you can book a cooked breakfast at Riverlodge. The cost for this is $20.00 a head. This must be booked when you book your accommodation and paid for in advance. LUNCH BYO using the facilities at the camping site. Alternatively you can book Lunch at Riverlodge. The cost for this is $15.00 a head. This must be booked when you book your accommodation and paid for in advance. It is a simple family style luncheon. DINNER Friday - BYO at the Campsite or feed yourselves enroute Saturday BBQ tea provided by Riverlodge (part of Registration Cost) Sunday - Going to Waikite Valley Thermal Pools. Either purchase at their Café or BYO picnic tea. Registration Fee There will be a $35 registration fee per person. This covers administration costs, coffee/tea/milo and muffin for the morning briefings (3) and a BBQ style dinner on the Saturday evening prior to the night glow, provided by Riverlodge. Please advise us of the number of people in your team. Flying The area is classified as D Airspace with Transponder Mandatory above 4500ft, reference VNC C5 Below 4500ft we will be operating in G Airspace on Riverlodge

5 In participating in this Balloon Meet, pilots agree to: 1. Conduct themselves in a manner which promotes the Sport of Ballooning in the Community and encourages congenial relationships amongst Balloonists; 2. Abide by ALL CAA Rules as they would apply to any aircraft flying within the area; 3. Accept full responsibility for any damage to private property and any other such damage whether real or otherwise and be appropriately insured for any such actions that may be brought against them; 4. Respect the Virtues of the River Lodge; 5. Share crew resources as may be required; 6. Respect the values of fellow balloonists. The primary objective of the Balloon Meet is to fly and have a great time with fellow balloonists from throughout New Zealand.
